Fraud -Alert

If you receive an email from either someone you don't know,


...or an email or private message through the services provided by this website, offering either Luger pistols or accessories for sale, there is a very good chance that the offer is a fraud.

A current method being used by professional scammers trying to get your money is to legitmately join forums and then contact other members through the private message system or through the email link in your profile.

They will likely offer a Luger or some other well known item at a very reasonable cost, and ask you to respond. If they have no postings (which you can check with the search feature) they are likely a fraud. report the user name to either Ed Tinker or myself.

BE VERY CAREFUL OUT THERE> There is reason to believe one of these scams is currently "working" the Lugerforum membership in this manner. Don't let your sense of getting a "great" deal get the best of you.

Ask for photos of the items, a legitimate email address from an ISP that is not one of the free ones like gmail, hotmail, yahoo, etc. A physical mailing address (No P.O. Boxes) that you can verify. Ask for references. AND NEVER PAY VIA Western Union or one of the other instant services ... once that money is gone... it will be gone forever. Remember, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

Once you report the user name to us, we can ban them and they no longer have the ability to send emails to folks.

There is no way they can "harvest" emails form this site or Jan Still's site (unless your user name is your email; not a good practice), and they send you a email via the site, and ONLY if you answer back to do they see your email.

Ed, I know that you can't post after being banned, but I am not sure about the PM and blind email service... we will have to test to see if that 'door' is still open to banned members. If you already have tested, please let me know.

To help eliminate this fraud, I have sent all of the gathered information on Pawel Tomasz Nowak in a report to INTERPOL via their website.

This sounds more like he's trying to get a date rather than sell something.

To me this screams 'scam artist'. I don't know, maybe I have an ear/eye for this kind of BS. I can't understand how anyone can fall for this kind of thing. To me it is really quite transparent, no better than the stupid nonsense that comes out of Nigeria. And what the hell is "archival research"? That doesn't even mean anything!

I think crimes of fraud should carry a "stupid enhancement". If you insult our intelligence with the complete stupidity of your attempt, you do an extra 20 years!

I recommend that anyone receiving a private message or email from Mr. Pawel Tomasz Nowak, NOT respond. If he doesn't get any responses he will stop trying HERE.

yes, and then we ban him, until they get tired of being banned. meanwhile once banned, they can't use that email on this forum.

Two days ago I received the same email from Kaspian271275 though the Forum. It seems he is back testing the water again after his attempts earlier in the year.

I received the first scam copy Tuesday, August 12, 2008 11:41 AM from "This is a message from Kaspian271275 at LugerForum Discussion Forums" and included "OR, by email: shipwrecks.research271275@yahoo.com"

then the response from him comes from Pawel Nowak <shipwrecks.research271275@yahoo.com> with the 1916 luger pictures , etc

and then the trust me and be my importer type of msg from same address

Just don't reply to the email messages at the address he sends. He has no way of determining your real email address unless you reply, since he used the blind email feature of the forum to initiate the discussion.

or any email address that even looks close to this. Sometimes the perpetator uses this email address with some additional letters or numbers on the front end as part of the address...

This Forum is Great! I to have have just recieved Pawel Nowak's 1916 Luger offer and recieved his Luger photos and documents. My first red flag was his intrest in Medal Detecting, Sailing and the like. Hey, a fellow with my same intrest! Then I thought this almost sounds like my old Yahoo profile! MMM??? Then he is in Poland. I have been bruned before in dealings with sellers in Europe. (lucky small amounts). Thanks John and Ed for this site!

I guess this is not even his real name, DL or passport. He would be an idiot if he would show his real identity. I guess he uses a DL and a passport from a guy who lost his wallet. Maybe even some photos were in this wallet. The best way is just to ignore his offers.

Nah, that is his real name and passport. He has been using his ID for a couple of years now. He seems to think that gives him an aura of legitimacy, and unfortunately a lot of people buy it. I guess he has enough valid deals and contacts to keep Interpol off his back.

I just learned that P N is back "in business", offering nazi swords, daggers and japanese militaria.
I was trying to find some information about a German dragoon rgt. on a great german swords collectors forum,(blankwaffenforum) they just announced that Pawel Nowak has tried to ripp off some members over there.
