WW1 Luger holster makers listed by city

Scott A. compiled this listing for us of Luger holster manufacturers; this is a "rework" (alphabetized and added a few new ones) on a list of Luger holster makers that was originally made up by Klaus Merzbach.

Steinmetz holster made in Breslau?
Have you ever heard of a holster made by Steinmetz of Breslau. I have what looks like "1915" by Steinmetz. The city is hard to read but looks like Breslau.
Thanks, George |
Hi George, I don't see any Steinmetz, Breslau listed. Could it possibly be Stegmann & Bussau, Hamburg? Regards, Norm
|
Steinmetz in Breslau is correct.

Steinmetz at Breslau
Thanks all. Yes. Using the a magnifying glass I can clearly see the city name -- Breslau.
There is another stamp or marking that I can't decipher. Does anybody know what it might be or might mean???? I appreciate the help. George |
Thanks for the list
Edward- the list helped me with a holster I just bought from Jerry B. It is a beautiful brown 1938 from Dresden; and now I can be fairly sure that it was made by Carl Heinichen. Thanks much. :) Bill

Sorry is there a ww2 maker list?
|
I recently picked up a reasonably good holster and the stamp looks like its ''SATTLER-JNNUNG'' HANNOVER 1917 the second word is not stamped so clearly, but the first letter is pretty clear that its a ''J''
Perhaps the info is of some interest to the group. |
You could have SATTLER-JNNUG or SATTLERINNUNG with lot of town :
Dresden Eisleben Braunschweig |
With so many German holster makers, how did they keep up uniform standards? Did Krieghoff made their own holsters? They seem to be a higher quality!

List mistake possible
I was just checking the list and believe that under the city of Munchen the manufacturer is listed as Kelinheinz Lederwarenfabrik. I have a holster that says Kleinheinz Munchen so I think that the l and e should be reversed on the list.

Second, they had the elaborate inspection systems that we see represented in the markings we "love" to have and see.:) |

Thank You Ed! I recently purchased 'Luger And Holsters And Accessories' and awesome but still had questions. I posted four basic designs. There were over a hundred makers! Were there detailed designs for each. I posted 4 different designs that I have. Were there other designs. I am aware there was a change in color from brown to black. Was there a patent for each design? Uniformity? Specifications or demands? How much were the makers paid and who did the inspections?

1939 Brown Holster
I have brown holster dated 1939 with a tool. It is marked Carl Ackva Bad Kruznach over an eagle spread wings WaA286. The tool has a an eagle over perhaps #63.
Is this your average WWll or a rarity. Thanks.:p |

Carl Ackva from Bad Kruznach is considered one of the better makers whose work usually commands a slightly higher premium than normal.

Just got this one back from Jerry after some repair/restitching. (Thanks Jerry!)Herman Flohr, Coln. date is hard to make out, but probably 1917. Not sure of the significance of the ink stamp inside the lid.
