Shooter

Here's a shooter I had built up. Grips and barrel by Hugh Clark, Rust blue, fire blue and straw by Ken Karsted. If anyone is interested in getting work done by Ken his number is 847-234-0441, he lives in Lake Forest, IL. He's been doing restorations for 40 years. He also does Mausers,Walthers and others. I believe everyone knows how to contact Hugh.

You can't just copy and paste into the posting. You have to upload, it can be tricky at first.

You have the "path" down right, now you just need to upload those same pictures ;);

OK Ed I got that but what's the next step to display on forum. What subject in your link explains the process?????
Thanks, Tom

Ron Smith 01-26-2008 10:03 AM

Ed,

Tom's an old Submariner..., you know, that lack of sunshine and oxygen thing... just humor him and he'll be okay...;)

Tom,

Put at the end of each, with no spacing. It will be post as a photo.

Tom, somewhere there was a tutorial;
this is basic stuff, I'll try to write mroe later;

1. Look upper right corner of screen, see it says upload;

2. Do the same thing you did on finding photos

3. Say Open (that'll put picutre in the url area thingy)

4. It'll upload if small enough, then copy that link

5. If you paste the link into the new quick reply, it'll show like the link I showed you about. If you click on IMG, it will put [img] and then [ / img] on each side of the link and that makes the computer see the picture.

hey, you guys cheated and edited the pictures. Honest Ron, there was a wrong linker there :D

Tom, nice pretty gun there!

Ron Smith 01-26-2008 10:10 AM

I corrected it...

Tomathvl 01-26-2008 10:14 AM

It should be basic for the moderator to know where the links are?????
And Ron, aka River Rat, is a show off.
Tom
P.S. Should be a smiley face but I haven't got that down either.

not sure what that means. Just trying to help

As a moderator, I can change postings, delete postings or move them, but I can't go look for links / uploads folks have made.

Tomathvl 01-26-2008 10:41 AM

OK Ed and Ron I finally got it. THANKS!!!
Tom

Since I'm being treated as such, I thought the new avatar was appropriate.

Ed,

Just fooling around trying to learn ins and outs of posting. I have many more important things to do but I'm in a don't want to get up out of the chair mode. :D

OK, I have avatar, smiley face and photo in one post. Of course, next time I'll forget how to do it.

I like the picture though, nice kid picture, you I would guess 30 years ago :D

Tomathvl 01-26-2008 12:19 PM

30 years is close. ;)

Of course, I've been told that you can go to hell for lying; but with so many other reasons what's a little white lie??? :nono:

Pete Ebbink 01-26-2008 12:51 PM

Tom.

Very nice 6" shooter. Money well spent on the refurbishments.

Tomathvl 01-26-2008 01:07 PM

Thanks Pete,
Probably couldn't get what I have in it but that's not why I had it put it together. My heirs have to worry about that.
Tom

Hugh 01-28-2008 01:46 AM

nice grips:D

lfid 01-28-2008 04:32 AM

Tom,

superb custom luger !!!

thanks for sharing the result and tips on whodunit

did you have trigger tuned ? if so , how did that turn out ?

have any before pictures ?

Bill

Tomathvl 01-28-2008 09:20 AM

Hugh,
You obviously hang out with Ron, river rat, Smith. Do I get a advertiser discount next time???

Bill,
No before photos, no trigger work. The gun was in very good condition except it had some type of aftermarket finish, It was olive drab in color. Looked like teflon or parkerizing. Ken removed the finish and dressed the bare barrel finish to match the gun.
Tom

JonWalther 02-02-2008 08:56 AM

Those grips are beautiful!

pipeman45 02-04-2008 04:46 PM

I for one would like to see the before and after pic's. Also if you don't mind. What did the refinish cost?
BTW Nice shooter.

Tomathvl 02-04-2008 05:46 PM

I found photos that were taken by the seller I bought the gun from. It was advertised on one of the forums.
As far as refinish price, it was cheap by any standard and if you're interested give ken a call, I don't believe you will be disappointed. He asked that I don't give out prices as each gun requires different work and he charges by amount of work required.

Wow!

The difference is like night and day!

I'm really tempted to give my commercial shooter the total make over. You have one really handsome pistol there. Congratulations!

Dave in TN.

Tomathvl 02-04-2008 07:59 PM

Thanks Dave and Dave.

pipeman45 02-04-2008 08:51 PM

The old girl didn't look too bad to begin with. BUT Wow She sure is dressed for the dance now. Ken does very good work.
Thanks.

JonWalther 02-09-2008 08:28 AM

How long did it take him to restore it?

Tomathvl 02-09-2008 11:35 AM

In my case I gave him the gun at one OGCA show and he brought it to next OGCA show which was a 2 months time frame. That was my choice. I believe his time frame for refinishing is much shorter but you should give him a call to get a definite answer. My experience with Ken is he is up front and honest.
Tom
