Mauser Parabellum
Hello,
Many years ago I bought myself a Christmas present. I have never regretted it. I also have a bad habit of making boxes to store things in I buy. This one has been stored away for many years. I thought you might like to see it and it's description. The pistol is unfired by me. I guess the last time it was fired was at the factory test target. I bought the pistol Dec. 3, 1975. I have the original receipt. It is the P.08 version, (Not the straight grip Swiss version), 9mm with 6" barrel, 9mm Luger on barrel, American Eagle on chamber, and Mauser Werke on front grip strap, Interarms, Alexandria Virginia on right side. The S/N is shown in one of the images. I bought the pistol knowing it would become a collectors item. I bought all the extras knowing it would be the best time to buy them. These pistols are probably the last true lugers to ever be made by Mauser or anyone else. I made the hand rubbed varnished storage case to keep everythig together associated with the pistol. The pistol has been stored separately wrapped in anti-corrosion paper with the grips off. It is hard to believe this was 31 years ago and I was 32 years old at the time. Very few people have ever seen this pistol and case. I will describe the walnut case: The case is 27"X15-1/2"X4". Hand rubbed varnish with Mauser logo embedded on front. The case inside bottom and removeable tray are lined with red felt. The case has finger joint corners and 4 hinges on lid with a lid support for holding lid open for display or access. Contents of Case: On the left side is the original box and cardboard shipping sleeve that the pistol was received in. The Mauser box is in as new received condition. Beside the holster there is 2 boxes of Remington green box period ammunition bought in 1976. There is the 6" Interarms Parabellum holster. As new except for the age brassing around the brass snaps. This will wipe off and occurs naturally with treated leather and brass. On the right side in the lift out tray: (1) Set of spare grips. (2) Cleaning Rods. (2) Takedown Tools. (4) Magazines (Total), One in pistol, 3 spares in case. (1) Box of spare parts. (1) Original Mauser blue plastic display tag or logo. Contents (Under Removable Tray on right side. (Lots of stuff) (1) Packet of desicant that came with pistol. (1) Mauser Parabellum 08 Luger brochure showing some presentation models. (1) The Mauser Parrabellum Book by Francis C. Allan (Soft Bound) (1) 1975 Interarms Catalog & Price List (2) 1976 Interarms Catalog & Price List (1) 1977 Interarms Price list (3) Instruction manuals for the Mauser Parabellum. One came with pistol. (1) Reprint of Mauser Parabellum Instruction Book from the 1930's. (1) Original test target from Mauser that came with pistol. (*) All sales receipts, invoices, and correspondence from Interarms related to the pistol and stuff I bought with it. Has invoices for everything I bought with the pistol including spare parts listing. (2) Guns & Ammo magazines from 1975 with articles on the Mauser Parabellum pistols. This is a brief overview of the pistol and everything in the case. Maybe the images will tell more than my writup. http://forum.lugerforum.com/lfupload/dscn0052_copy1.jpg http://forum.lugerforum.com/lfupload/dscn0053_copy1.jpg http://forum.lugerforum.com/lfupload/dscn0054_copy1.jpg http://forum.lugerforum.com/lfupload/dscn0055_copy1.jpg http://forum.lugerforum.com/lfupload/dscn0059_copy1.jpg The top of the case is not discolored it is just the reflection of the grain from the flash. http://forum.lugerforum.com/lfupload/dscn0060_copy1.jpg http://forum.lugerforum.com/lfupload/dscn0061_copy1.jpg http://forum.lugerforum.com/lfupload/dscn0063_copy1.jpg |
I am a big fun of the Mauser Parabellum.
Your set it is simply beautiful to me. Really nice. The fact that you keep all the invoices and related document increase the interest. Is the test target dated? Thank you for sharing. Cheers, Mauro |

I will be selling it all after the first of the year. I have had it long enough, it is now time for someone else to enjoy. Merry Christmas and a Safe and Happy Holidays To All, |
Chester,
Thanks for sharing the photos of your treasure. I am sure the next owner will treat it as nicely as you have done. BTW...I simply do not know how you could have not shot this piece...your will power is much better than mine...:D |
Wow TT; that is really outstanding work and set!
:) Ed |
Do you already have a buyer?
I can't afford it but have to ask, how much do you plan to ask for it in January. Thanks, Chris |
A very, very nice set.
Good that you kept the white box in there. Most have faded to yellow due to exposure to sun light. The wooden box is outstanding! I'd hang on to it. |
Thanks for all the nice comments.
Mauro, everything has been put back in storage for now. When I dig it out again I will check and see if the test target is dated. Hello Pete, And I suppose you shoot all of those old cheap Swiss lugers too! Some things just deserve to be kept in there as original condition as you can. I never had any desire to shoot it since I have many others I can shoot. shadow, I have no price at this time. Hello Gerben, Thank you for your generous comments. Everything in the box has been kept as near new as could be possible. As I get older I find I don't need some of the things I thought I needed when I was younger. I have enjoyed this accumulation for many years, it has been part of my life, but it is time to let it go. |
Chester...
Yes...some/most will say I am foolish...but every one that goes into my collection will get 3-4-5 rounds put through them. Before I clean them up for good and store them away, I want to know that they still are a "gun" and can do what a gun should do...put a bullet down range. So far, nothing has broken. They don't seem as fragile as some think. |
Beautiful!!! What a set!!! Thanks for sharing...
|
VERY NICE Chester...
I too have collected many things I don't need... I will ALWAYS keep the ones that have sentimental value though... |
All I can add is that you have much more willpower than I.
If I had been the one that bought it way back when. It would be well used by now. BTW Great looking rig. |
It is absolutely amazing how one can make an entire collection out of just one pistol! A very novel idea, I must admit.
|
Hello Chester,
I have sent to you both a PM and a email. Do you read them? Let me know... Cheers, Mauro |
Chester..
If you don't have a buyer in mind, I would like to be in that loop I am very interested when it becomes "for sale" Jim |
Chester, pls. also consider me an interested potential buyer.
Happy Holidays, Alx |
Hello Mauro,
Could you please repeat your email and/or Private Message. Best Regards, Chester |
Done...PM sent
|
Chester, just wanted to add my commment on how wonderful this set is! What remarkable restraint you must have not to at least peek under some of the paper wrappers! I presume the marking on the chamber is an American Eagle, although it is not clear to me in the photograph. By what means are you planning to sell this treasure....Gunbroker, Auction Arms, here on the Forum???
|
Just lovely... :)
I don't think I've ever seen the full set like that... I can't wait to see what your selling price will be... :D |
Hello Herbert.
Thank you for your comments. Yes, the chamber has the American Eagle. My problem in selling this accumulation is establishing a price. I have no idea what someone would pay for it. What do you think it would be worth? If I can establish an asking price I will probably sell it on the forum. Best Wishes, Chester |
absolutely wonderfull job on that box.
congratulations. cheers tony from oz |
Chester,
I did a rough total of individual items including the box, based on what I can find these items selling for. I came up with a total of approx. $3500. I wouldn't doubt that everything combined might bring $4000+ to the right buyer. And then again I may be being too conservative or too generous. Just my WAG... Ron |
Cester, I think Ron is close. The problem here is that we don't know how many rigs like this were made. That certainly would have a major effect on the price. Mauro, could you comment on the rarity of this wonderful set?
|
Hello,
The Chesterâ??s 06/73 cannot be considered a rare pistol but what is absolutely good is that it could be really considered NIB. In fact the condition is beautiful as well as the condition of all the accessories (Interarms box, spare magazines, original documents and so on). Therefore, because of the NIB condition of all the items, the set could be considered rare. Usually the 29/70 and 06/73 models were mainly used for shooting purposes with the related â??side effectsâ?. In addition is quite rare to find all the original papers with also some advertisings of the epoch. The holster is good as well. The hand-made wooden case made by Chester is really beautiful. To sum up, I guess that this set could be considered very interesting and it will increase the value in the years. I suggest that the buyer keeps this set as it is in a collection and not for firing purposes. The starting price for a set like this should be around 4000 dollars I hope this helps. Have fun, Mauro |
Hello,
I want to thank everyone for their generous and helpful comments. The members of this form are an asset for anyone looking for information and expert advice on our wonderful hobby! Now, I just have to decide on my asking price and how to move my information from this posting into the for sale area. I guess I can just copy and paste a bunch of it. I really wish someone lived close enough to me so they could come look at what I have. Best Wishes, Chester |
Has been moved to for sale section.
|
has this sold, ? I just noticed a short-cut to the thread on my desktop, and I know it has been awhile...
|
Hello Al,
No, it has not sold. I think it will be going back into storage. Thanks, Chester |
Hello Mauro,
I can find no date on the test target for this pistol. Sorry it took so long for an answer. Better late than never though. Best Regards, Chester |
Thanks Chester,
