Area Of Luger Collecting Interest ???

Share with others your primary interest in Luger collecting.

That is, is there a certain era or type or manufacturer of Luger you prefer to collect over the others ?

Please review the ten (10) categories of Luger collecting emphasis that BEST describes your primary field of collecting.

If you wish, the Poll is set up to allow more than one answer/selection if you focus your collecting in more than 1 primary area.

(Sorry if the number of categories are only limited to 10 choices...but this is a limit of the Poll set-up feature on the Luger Forum...)

Thanks in advance for your participation in the Poll ! :D

Pete,

I realise that the poll is limited to 10 selections but none apply to me since I am not a collector. I buy guns to shoot them.

Here is my vote.

Shooters. :p

Dwight Gruber 12-15-2006 07:28 PM

Weimar and Post-WWI are duplications. There's no category for Commercial (non-military).

--Dwight

Edward Tinker 12-15-2006 07:34 PM

Shadow, you can now vote Shooters.

Dwight, I made the era say Commercial

Pete, I changed Simpson's to Simson's, as the other is a gun shop ;)

I triple voted, as I collect, pre-WW2, except for the WW2 I own :D

Dwight Gruber 12-15-2006 09:50 PM

Ed,

What about pre-WWI Commercial?

Hmmm...pre-WWI Commercial would seem to fall into the category of Imperial Era...nicht wahr? Anyway, I lumped them together but I understand if we want to make a finer distinction.

Dwight Gruber 12-16-2006 12:07 AM

Ron,

I was trying to get at the distinction of collecting commercial Lugers--of all eras--as opposed to collecting era-distinguished military Lugers.

is that better

Thanks Ed,

I see there are at least two other shooters so far.

Frank 12-16-2006 08:19 AM

Okay Pete, where is the none of yer business category? ;)

Now everyone knows I'm a Third Reich guy, so I'll participate in this one!! :D

Pappy 12-16-2006 10:24 AM

I too, like the 3rd Reich pieces.....

I too, like the 3rd Reich pieces. Mauser in particular. And they need to be shot and not a 'safe queen'.
I also have Mauser 98 rifles. Best bolt action in the world...Pappy

P.S. Good work and thanks Pete and Ed.

Ed, if the list can be automaticaly sorted to show ascending/descending totals, that would be cool...Pappy

Edward Tinker 12-16-2006 10:33 AM

no it can't

John D. 12-16-2006 11:18 AM

My, my... The HK category is a pretty lonely collecting area..

Can I vote twice??

;)

John D.

Pete Ebbink 12-16-2006 11:46 AM

Ed,

Thanks for expanding the Poll categories...

BTW...I had a typo in my originals...It should be Post-WWII not Post -WWI...

Edward Tinker 12-16-2006 12:48 PM

I added the post-WW2, as I was covering all bases, as I thought what you wrote made sense. It allows me to add 2 items each time I change it, I have not seen a limit of what can be added, but each item I add, goes to the bottom of the list, I can not change the order...

Pete, anything you want reworded, I can change but it might affect how folks "feel" about what they chose...

Pete Ebbink 12-16-2006 01:03 PM

Nope, Ed...I think you did a great job with the Poll...

Even Frank likes it...:D :D :D

BTW...did you allow John D. to vote 51 times ???:roflmao:

Edward Tinker 12-16-2006 02:04 PM

I don't "allow" John to do anything, he might make your avatar stick as a minkey! :D

Pete Ebbink 12-16-2006 02:11 PM

Well...if that happens, you guys should use this one...to go along with my new name of "Paranoid Pete"...:D :D :D

Pappy 12-16-2006 02:37 PM

Hey, how about a selection for Mitchel's Mausers??
Just kidding folks...Pappy

Edward Tinker 12-16-2006 03:29 PM

its covered under post WW2 ;)

Pete Ebbink 12-16-2006 05:00 PM

Now 51 votes for those silly Simson lugers made by folks making bicycles and sewing machines...geeze...:D :D :D

John D. 12-16-2006 05:07 PM

Pete,

First - WELCOME TO THE LUGERFORUM!! :) I notice that this is your first post! We hope to see you here more often!

Second - it would appear that the server is a bit "haywire".. I've seen no fewer than 4 different Avatars for you today?? Everything from a "dancing spiderman" to a "monkey shaking head". Not sure what's up with that?? I'll check into it - be very sure I will... ;)

Now about Paranoid Pete in your profile... I was CERTAIN I saw that, too - as part of your title?? Should just be a temporary glitch...

And based on the poll - thank goodness I don't collect Simson Lugers. looks like a mighty competitive area of collecting... :)

Again - Welcome to the Forum!!!

John D.

Pete Ebbink 12-16-2006 05:17 PM

Thanks for the warm welcome John.

BTW...I did have more than 4300 postings at one time.

I assume one of the Administrators is playing fun with my avatar...I only made one change after the "fun & games" you guys are having...the last avatar I added to my personal profile was the Swiss soldier standing next to his horse.

I have changed my avatar this past year every month or so...always with a Swiss theme.

BTW...I thought our personal profiles were just that...accessible only to the individual users ??? Knowing anyone with administrator access going in and changing it willy-nilly will tend to make me even more paranoid...;)

John D. 12-16-2006 05:21 PM

Hey Pete!

Well - not to pick-a-nit - I believe you may have had about 4756 posts ;) Yep - about the Avatars - looks like your monthly update was a bit haywire :)

Also - if you click on my name - you should see my "profile" - your's too!! I get to see all the stuff behind the "profile" though - just in case you turn into one of those hackers by post #3..

:D

Again - Welcome!!!

;)

John

Edward Tinker 12-16-2006 05:24 PM

Pete, except for changing posts, only ONE admin could change anything like that... But ole John must not have liked that I changed the 52 to 1 and made me competitive, which is good, cuz now my Simpson' :D are worth more, as there are more kollekteors

I thought the dancing spiderman was pretty cool btw ;)

Pete Ebbink 12-29-2006 02:03 PM

Ed,

How about "correcting' the Simson votes...so it is more realistic.

Folks may not have confidence in the value of Polls with some "for fun" skewing...;)

thegundude 12-29-2006 08:50 PM

I voted that I collect and shoot since I've not really decieded to focus just yet. I'm still in the "gotta have one of each" phase. :)

And there's no mention of Artillery Lugers either... :D

Pete Ebbink 01-07-2007 12:49 PM

Sorry, Steve...I just assumed Artillery lugers in the Imperial group...but you are right...they should have been in a class by themselves as there were Weimar era LP-08's as well.

Maybe one of the LP-08 fans will be motivated to create a Poll just for Artillery lugers...maybe listing each choice by maker and year issued ?

It might be nice to have someone start a breakdown of the HK lugers as well.;)

thegundude 01-07-2007 02:43 PM

I was just goshin' ya Pete. Just a simple yank of the leg is all... :)

It's interesting to see how many different ~basic~ areas of Luger collecting there are. You just don't get that with almost any other gun.

I suppose that's why we're all here though, huh... :D

Edward Tinker 01-07-2007 03:09 PM

Steve, to tell the truth and I am sure others, i selected more than one area.

I collect Weimar Police, but then branched into Simson's and now, have uh, several....

Ed

Pete Ebbink 01-26-2007 12:20 PM

Polls seem to have a half-life of a bad fart in a closed-up room.

Bringing this Poll up to the top for others... if you want to join the voting...

DaveinTN 01-26-2007 06:27 PM

I want to be able to shoot any Luger I own without fear of lowering its value. So, I guess that keeps me out of the high end pistols.

I would very much like to own a shooter with a 6-8 inch barrel. I find them very appealing. I'd like to have a Navy, but for now that's wishful thinking......

Still looking for Luger number two.....

Dave in TN.
