Another Hero Passes...
My father (John Sr.) who turned 87 yesterday, has been admitted to the hospital in Philadelphia with what appears to be the onset of kidney failure and a possible minor stroke...
He remained the night for observation and has within the last hour been moved to ICU... so they can watch him more closely and begin preparations for dialysis... I have prepared myself for the worst, but realize that he has lived a long and good life, and if his time has come to meet his maker, I would appreciate your prayers that he would indeed come to accept Jesus Christ as his personal savior before his last breath occurs... He has rarely permitted discussion of such things, even with his sons. I would also ask that you pray for his speedy recovery from this setback... His mother (my grandmother) lived to be 96 with a similar health history... Because he was on blood-thinners, there is a significant risk in performing dialysis, but since the alternative is to just allow him to die from kidney failure we have no choice but to proceed. Thanks in advance to all my friends for your prayers and support in this very emotional time for me and my family. God Bless you all, and also all the other WW2 vets who are also approaching the end of their lives here on earth with us. -John :( |
GOD bless you & your family, John... !
You all will be in my prayers & wishes. My mother passed away on July 8th & the pain of loss has been hard to endure. Take care, John |
May God be with you and your family in this process. I lost my mother 3 years ago to brain cancer. I brought Hospice into the situation, and they were so helpful. When the proper time comes I recommend everyone conside the help that Hospice can provide.

John,
I will pray for him as well as for you and your family during this time. Having just been through the same a couple of months ago I fully understand. The prayers of friends and family really do help. Take care of yourself. Sid. |

John, I echo Richard's suggestion. Hospice is a Godsend. They can accomplish things the Hospital cannot . A truely great orginization and worthy of our support.

John, in this trying and difficult time, I will be thinking of you and hoping for the best.
stymie (John), we lost my father in law unexpectadly 4 years ago, we still miss him. Stay strong, it isn't easy and won't go away, think of the fond memories and maybe it will make it easier. But be prepared, you'll see someone in line or on the street every now and then, and you'd swear it was her (or him) ... Ed |
John, you and your family are in my best thoughts. 87 years is a good long time... I wish the best for all of you in this trying time... :(

John You and your family will be in our church prayer chain. We'll be thinking of you and your father. Bill

John,
For your father, in my prayers each day until his recovery. For you, John, through this difficult time, in my prayers as well. Read to him the words of Christ from the Bible. Read the Psalms that express God's grace. My own brother accepted the Lord all over again, after many years of backsliding, the day before he passed. The Lord be with you and your family, Russell |
John,
My Dear Friend, I am so sorry to hear of the Final Life Decisions that You are now facing. My Prayers are with You And Dad until the final Roll Call Up There. My father once told me that, "There are No Athiests In Fox Holes". As another veteran Awaiting that Final Ringing of Taps, I know and fully believe that "All Who Call Upon The Name Of The LORD Shall Be Saved", and There Is No Power That CAN REVOKE THAT. I stand upon that Faith And Salvation Until The Very End when we shall gather for the Final Retreat. ViggoG |
John,
Our prayers will be with you for your fathers salvation as well as his recovery. Hugh & Minta |
John,
My prayers and thoughts will be with you. May God bless you and your family. Jim |
John,
God bless your entire family. (And with all you must be going through, you stay healthy.) Herb |
Another Hero passes...
Dear Friends,
It is with great regret that I must inform you of the passing of one more of our WW2 veterans. My father, John Sabato (Sr.) passed away at 12:50 on Friday, June 21st... He had turned 87 on Monday of this week. He was surrounded by his family when he passed to the next life... this is an end to an era in my family. He was the last of his generation... A recipient of the Bronze Star for valor and two Purple Heart Medals, and a battlefield commission to 2nd Lieutenant. He was loved, feared or respected by those who encountered him in this life... His children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins will mourn him for a very long time. He was my personal hero. Thanks to you all for your prayers, thoughts and words of comfort during this difficult time... I can't express in words how much your comfort and friendships mean to me. I will be silent for a time while my family mourns their loss and makes arrangements for the distribution of his estate according to his wishes... please bear with me until I can freely return to my post here among you. kind regards and may God bless each one of you. -John |
John,
Much strength to you and your family. |
And on the wings on angels.
Jen's and my thoughts, prayers and silent moments, we join you and yours. You and your family are not alone - ever - through your trying times.... God Bless your Dad and those who he has left behind for now, John D. |
John, my thoughts go to you...

John,
There are no adequate words. It is fitting to morn his passing, but also rejoice in the life he had and the life he gave to the ones he loved. Our prayers are with you and your family. Ron and Sarah |
John,
Surly there are far many more heros where he is now than here on this earth. God be with you and your family. Russell |
Dear John,
May God's promise of eternal life comfort you and your family in this difficult time. Our prayers are with you. With Kind Regards, Luke |
