Show Off Time...

Here's the luger holster display I had set up at the recent SE NAPCA event in TN. Thought folks might like to see what I was able to put together in the past 1.5 years in the luger leather area :

My "GOD" pete you put this together in a year and a half. Wonderful wish I could have done half as well in that time. Nice collection.
Regards Richie

drbuster 08-22-2005 09:57 PM

Wow, Pete, what an impresive display of cow skin!

Pete Ebbink 08-22-2005 10:00 PM

Guys,

Do not let Tom A. fool you....I think he bought something from EVERY display at the convention...:D

Ron Wood 08-22-2005 10:33 PM

I think if I had Tom's money I could burn mine and never miss it.:D Nice job Pete, you have done well in a very short time.

Hugh 08-22-2005 10:35 PM

Nice herd of cows! Are the beautiful pair of blonde grips for sale?

Pete Ebbink 08-22-2005 11:51 PM

Hi Hugh,

I assume you are taking about the zebra-stripped grips...???

Yes they are...try as I did, I could not give them away at the convention and received some amount of ridicule as well.

I even put them on a boat-anchor luger George Anderson had and made the luger look 200% better...but not even then could I sell them.

If you want them, they are yours for $ 75 including shipping to your door.

I am traveling and can get them out to you on Saturday...

Lemme know...

Pete...

Hugh 08-23-2005 06:42 AM

Pete,

Yep, thas tha wuns! I too am away from home, but will return Wednesday. I will mail you a check Thursday for the grips.
Thanks,

Them grips on Keoki's boat anchor bestowed instant "Homie" on the possessor. Required attire includes gold chains, a sideways baseball cap and a boombox.

John Sabato 08-23-2005 09:13 AM

I am not a bit surprised at what ole Pete has acquired in the last year and a half... you see the 'pebbink' moniker in the bidders list on every darn Luger item ever offered on eBay... :D

Nice job Pete.

oh, Tom, you poor man... ;) Guess Hugh and I are the only lovers of gaudy, sick, po-boy grips and finishes... Must be an affliction :D

John Sabato 08-23-2005 10:53 AM

Don't worry... because I think Hugh has those items Tom... :D Ed only has the sideways baseball cap.

Hugh 08-23-2005 11:29 AM

 Whas a boombox????????????

no, sorry, 20 years of having to wear a hat, I just don't wear one. AND, since I still have my hair, so, I'd don't have to wear those things! :D

It has a whole different meaning if you ask someone in special forces... :roflmao:

Pete Ebbink 08-23-2005 09:09 PM

Hi Hugh,

I have sent you an email with my address. Your grips will go out in the US Mail this Saturday...

Hi John S.,

Yes I have been busy on e-Bay and other avenues. If I recognize a LF member bidding, I will usually wait until it appears that person has quit. Or I will email the other bidder to see if they are serious about the item. Joop (in Belgium) and I have started doing that...

But on a few items that are rare and are missing in my little collection, I go after the piece up to my limit...but certainly not as furiously as Armstrong...he is just a mad man...!!!

John Sabato 08-24-2005 08:02 AM

Thanks Pete... it wasn't really criticism... it was envy... Wish I could devote the time and money that I know you have to this investment hobby... My life frequently has other events that must take priority over my enjoyment of this hobby...

Yeah, I hear ya. Like work, for example..... :(

Pete Ebbink 08-24-2005 11:04 AM

Guys,

I still work for a living as well...many 50-65 hour weeks...at that.

I am just fortunate to be able to travel on a client's "nickle" which allows me to be in all parts of the country to visit gun shows, gun shop, private collectors, etc.

On top of that, my frequent-programs with hotels, airlines, and rental cars end up paying for even more of these "bonus" trips...

A few Forum members see me at many gun shows...I do not think I have paid for any of those trips in 2 years except for meals and drinks (and I am a cheap drinker with ice tea...).

A few other guys on the Forum do the same...but our clients will never be the wiser...:D

The Internet has helped alot these past 3.5 years while I found lugers and luger stuff. Many deals just happen behind the scenes once you get to know a fellow collector or seller and can trust them to buy off-line, privately.

Okay...now that some of my collecting secrets are out, I will need to shoot you all...with a Luger...of course...

:D I get that too. I'm leaving in the am for Dallas, TX on the company nickel but I still get the points, et al. I'm using another trip at the end of next month, our national convention in Las Vegas, to attend the Front Sight Shooting Academy. It just happens that their two day defensive pistol course is the weekend after our convention. :p So I'm using points to stay for two nights at the Hyatt and two nights at the Hilton, not to mention the company pays for me to fly out here, saving my FF miles for something else. :roflmao:

It's good to be me... ;)

But Pete, in all honestly, it really helps my ego to think of you as some spoiled rich kid who grabs up all the good Luger deals. I hate to think of you as a regular old Joe, like myself. Because if that's true you may even work harder than me... I'm not sure I could handle that.... :p

A boombox, aka Homie Life Support System, Ghettoblaster, or Funkmachine, was the precursor to the ipod...it was the1970s-190s accoutrement of choice for many. Sized at about 30"Wx 8" Hx4"thick, it comprised a combination radio and tapeplayer that was frequently seen being carried shoulder mounted in a modified right shoulder arms position as the possessor styled their way through and across the urban landscape. To achieve full effect, the boombox had to be playing at a volume suitable for dislodging Panamanian dictators from their lair. A surly attitude is derigeur when one is the operator of this equipment and although it is big enough to be crew served, a true boombox is a personally operated irritant.

Any other questions you wish to ax me 'bout keepin' it real?

Tom A.

thegundude 08-24-2005 12:38 PM

ROTFLMAO!!! :D

Tom, if that description doesn't do it, none will..... :p

Heinz 08-24-2005 08:55 PM

Pete, wonderful display. Don't pay any attention to Hugh. If you put the tiger maple grips (where did they get "zebra stripe?) on a nickled Luger in one of those Heisser holsters, Hugh would trade you a rebarrel work just for the picture.

I commend your dedication.

mauro 09-02-2005 02:58 PM

Really beautiful.
Well done Pete.

Pete Ebbink 09-06-2005 07:19 PM

Hi Hugh,

Let me know if your grips arrived...? Anxious to see what luger of yours they end up on...

Hugh 09-06-2005 11:37 PM

Pete,

Got the grips and they are on my Target Luger, will post a pic soon!

Hugh 09-07-2005 05:25 PM

Awesome! Is that a 7.65?

Hugh 09-08-2005 12:55 AM

Nope, that's a 9mm, this is the 7.65mm:

Pete Ebbink 09-08-2005 03:04 AM

Thanks, Hugh !

Great looking dressed-up luger !!!

thegundude 09-08-2005 09:21 AM

Okay, stupid question time...

What's with the flat sided barrel?

Hugh 09-08-2005 10:52 AM

Steve,

This was a very thick and heavy bbl, metal was removed from the sides to reduce weight.

Heinz 09-08-2005 11:54 AM

The reason for the flat sided barrel is Hugh employs armadillos in his shop. They do most of the work and have their own sense of style, particularly when high on tequilla. I sort of like the style myself.

pipeman45 09-08-2005 02:56 PM

Hugh, will you adopt me? I want to live with you and play with all the nice toys you have at your house!
