-Luger-related historical documentation in general.
-The Mercedes-Benz W126 1979-1991 S-class (own 7 :) ).

Just got this baby back from the painter:
1984 500SEC, 5.0 Liter V8 with black leather upholstery.

And this is how I bought it:
A gutted collision-damaged write-off. Missed the transmission and most of the interior. Front was damaged, side panels were damaged.

Uh nice to see another car fan  I have a German sportscar, the one with the engine in the back and six aircooled cylinders....Love it.

Other items..: WWII weapons in general. Mostly German though.

Edward Tinker 04-17-2005 01:39 PM

I like most anything with some history... Have started to pick up other weimar and imperial items.

I like old mustangs, have a 1966 Mustang, its sitting in the garage, needs new interior, and needs a new engine, that is because its sat for a long time, since I quit playing with it.

Vlim 04-17-2005 04:26 PM

Hi Ed,

Actually owned an 1967 Mustang. Got me hooked on V8-engines and it all started to go wrong there :) Didn't like the 'roughness' of the Ford design and swapped to the German stuff. Was dead cheap when I started, not anymore...Nowadays a decent V8 S-class is just about as expensive a a decent 1965-68 Mustang.

Like lugers, they tend to grow in value :D

minigun 04-17-2005 07:28 PM

Mostly a Heckler and Koch collector. Although, lately I have branched to other German firearms.

Glad to see that I am not the only one w/more hobbies/collecting interests than good sense!!!!!!!! I have 2 aluminum front end factory built 1962 Pontiac drag race cars........still race them. In fact, I am just now rebuilding one of the engines that lost a head gasket last season (15 to 1 compression!!!!). Had 2 of the '63 1/2 Galaxie fastbacks w/4 speed and 427/425 hp high riser side oilers, and the first and second '63 Pontiac drag cars that had the Swiss cheesed frames, plexiglas windows and aluminum front end. Sold them too soon but managed to pay off my then new house (1984). I did keep the only aluminum frame GM ever made. I also have a bunch of wall & mantle clocks and pocket watches, and a small group of model airplanes that I havnt flown in many years. I do get to run my train layout as I get several father/son teams here to look at stuff. I have a 25 MM Pateau in my garage (I once thought all 2 car garages came w/an artillery piece) and a full size replica Gatling w/250 rnd Accles drum. We have a 400 hp, 16' water ski boat we still use. Also have a collection of tea sets and at one time I had a group of baby dolls.................You guys are all welcome to visit when in SE Ohio......... No machine gunners here????????? My wife dearly loves machine guns. We are going to shoot at Marietta, Ohio on the 16th of June. Machine gun guys always shoot their guns where most Luger guys dont. Guns occasionally break and I have broken a few $30,000. machine guns........

maddog350gt 04-18-2005 04:39 PM

Oh well, I'll fess up,

I think I was a born collector,

Luger Pistols
other WWII era German handguns, P-38, ppk, pp etc. (only a few, mostly type collecting)
Vintage cars, although I am down to one 66 mustang fastback
Vintage pin-ups, especially Vargas but I include others, Petty, Elvgren, DeVores, Armstrong, Aslan, etc.
Die cast automobile models
A few knives, WWII FS Commando knives, some folders.

Those are the active things right now, I expect that these will change over the years, but I do hate to let anything go. I usually just add more!

Bob M.

Hugh 04-20-2005 12:02 AM

Heck yes... P. J. ...

I have a profound addiction to registered transferable NFA firearms; MGs, SBRs, SBSs & DDs.
My latest acquisition is a DLO/Andrewski Sterling MK4 smg with the black crackle finish. It's a work of ART!!!!
I love all types of firearms & collect everything from Lugers to M16s!
:)
These items are rapidly being priced out of reach & you always hear the admonitions... Are you crazy? ...You actually RISK shooting those things?

Might have to get together & burn up a few mags!!!!!

SIGH!!
I used to have this *BIG HUGE* Lionel train set when I was a kid. My dad had a new set of brass wheels made for it. Whatta monster it was. It wound up being part of a latter real estate deal & went pOoF. I was heart broken... forever RUINED!
lol

I collect electric guitars with my main focus on Les Pauls & Strats.
NO talent... but it's a lot of fun anywaze.
;)

Of course, I NEVER ever drag race, but I do have a mint '98 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 that is slightly modded & will do 0 - 60's in the low 4's!
:)

"Uh nice to see another car fan I have a German sportscar, the one with the engine in the back and six aircooled cylinders....Love it."
byf43,

Nice, a 911! I drive the original P-car. Drove a 1963 B sunroof 356 to work today, just recently sold a 1964 C Cabriolet. See:

'63 Sunroof B 356 Porsche

I also have the last "new car" my wife's grandfather bought. It's a fully restored old beetle that I drive sparingly, too nice to bugger up! I also collect any of a very wide variety of both modern and antique firearms. I think Bill Ruger said when he built the Ruger Special that guns and cars just go together. I couldn't agree more.

Ron, I forgot about straight razors......when the change to the safety type razor took place some years ago, I hit every barber shop in town (4 then) and bought theirs stocks of obsolete straight razors. Most were in sorry condition and have since been moved along, I got a couple of pristine ones in their boxes here on display in my model airplane/tea set/money/bayonet show case..........You guys w/ PP/PPk guns, I have an interesting pair, one select fire 380 w/1940 Commercial proofing. Rankin has some comments on these in one of his books, mine is complete and functioning, and a factory engraved PPk w/'EH' intertwined on the fore strap in a 1" oval, standard oak leaf design, blued, one of 15 or so existing pistols made in late '43/early '44. I have told many lookers that it was 'Eva' Hitlers gun and most bought it!!!!!! Had to tell them otherwise before they left........ Stymie, Sunday past, after church, three of us, wife included, killed a bunch of clays w/Browning Pigeon Broadway and Win. 101 Pigeon and a lowly Rem 1100. Shot spray paint cans at 80 yds w/FN 49 and BM 59 semis in 308. Then ran 400 rnds 308 through my Jap 99. Bob Naess made my extra barrels into 308s last year. I have a US 50 conversion for my Russian DShK almost finished. Your Lionel train set must have been a prewar standard gauge, as they had a tendency for the wheels to rot off from poorly mixed metals, O gauge locos were prone to the same problem but not so many were made as standard during the problem era...............

Roadkill, I recognize your pictured guns as somewhat modified AK variant, AR 15/M 16 and one of many models of FAL. At one time I have a real Russian paratrooper AK 47 on a Class 2 paper, complete w/forged receiver and milled steel folding stock. I paid $125. for it and foolishly sold it to a $5500. offer about 10 years ago. Can you imagine what that gun would be worth in todays market???????? I have an Isreali select fire heavy barrel FAL and two Colt FA M-613s which are pre military police (?) or commercial guns..............Doug G., you got into machine guns after the price went into orbit???????? I bought 40 machine guns in 1988 alone, too bad I didnt see where it was going then, I got an MG 42 for $3500 and another for $2750. Still have both, had two others but moved them to buy things I didnt have. Once again, acted too soon. Previous wife (shame on me) wanted a 'crotch rocket', but I knew she didnt fit the mold just because her brothers had one. I got her a Honda 250 street bike and she never could pass the drivers test to get certified. It and the 4 speed Corvette she could live without sat in the garage until the clutch rusted to the flywheel and the bikes carbs gummed up, they went. My fastest drag car, full sized 1962 Pontiac w/modified 455 Pontiac engine goes 10.05/135. in a 1/4, 6.50/106. in an 1/8. Looking at the time slips, I think 100 mph would take 5 second. This is a 30 ft wheelstander, impressive for a biggy car but not very practical..............

byf43 04-22-2005 05:01 AM

Tim I always liked the C best among the 356s. Yes a 911:
