Very Disappointed!!
Hey Guys,
I'm afraid I'm going to have to cancel my trip to Reno. My Wifes last radiation treatment is today, but she is so weak, she can barely walk. It's finally catching up to her. She will recover rapidly after the last treatment, but not rapidly enough for me to be away from her. I am deeply disappointed about not being able to attend the dinner and meet everyone, but I have to attend to her recovery. Sadly, Ron |
There will always be other gun shows. I agree that your wife is more important. I wish that she recovers rapidly.
|
Ron, I totally understand, and was concerned after we spoke last night!
You will be missed, but being there for Dee is far more important! Ed |
I was really looking forward to meeting you, but there will be other times. Take care of the love of your life, we all wish her a speedy and complete recovery.
Best of luck, Ron |
Hey Ron, I'm sorry you won't make it to the Reno Show; neither will I. But then I wasn't planning on it!!
Ron Wood has already expressed my thoughts, so l don't really have to say more! Thanks Ron Wood, u'r a good man. |
Wanted to meet ya, but home is where you are needed.....my next trip up north we'll get together. Best wished to your family.
|
Ron the only thing that is important is your lovely lady. Gun shows come and go. Be
home for her. We are blessed when we have someone like that. |
Thanks Guys!
I've been trying to be positive about it. I guess things just work out the way they were meant to be. For now I'll just continue being the Hop-a-long motor-mouth I've been to most of you. Ed, I was trying to be as upbeat as I could be, last night on the phone. I guess I did'nt shine at it , Huh? I am not by nature, a people person. Never really cared much for most people. I have had only a handfull of close friends.(by choice. I'm not that obnoxious.) I'm not anti-social, just A-social. But I will have to say that just from talking to the people on this forum, and the few I have talked to on the phone. I feel closer to you guys than I ever thought I would to anyone whom I've never met. And I hope eventually to meet most of you. This and Jan Still's Forum are the most highly civilized, intelligent, friendly and close knit forums on the internet. And I truly hope they continue to be! We truly are a separated band of brothers. Highly proffessional, willing to help, wanting to learn, and eager to teach. Thanks Again, Ron |
Ron
My prayers are with you and your wife. Take good care of her!!! Russ |
Ron, you sounded fine last night, but I could "read" between the lines and knew you were tired and all :(
Call if you need to talk, Ed |
Ron, my prayers for you and your wife are that you'll each and both receive comfort and assurance in this trial.
|
Ron,
I'll make sure that nobody takes the cork off of your lunch until your ready. I'll say a little prayer for your wife until that time too. Big Norm |
Thanks Everyone,
She's a tough old girl. She will be fine as soon as she gets her strength back. She's gone through something that I don't believe I could have survived. The best first wife I've ever had. She puts up with my Harley-Davidson(even though she refuses to ride with me) and my guns. And as long as I don't shed or claw the furniture , she lets me sleep inside. You can't ask for much more. Tac, I was looking forward to meeting one of Her Majesty's Finest , but hopfully some other time. I sincerely hope that you and your wife enjoy your visit. Try to keep these slackers in line. Rod and Russ, Thankyou! Norm, Go ahead and pull the cork. Just leave me a shot. Ron |
Hey Ron,
You made the right call. Do not forget the August Reno show... We'll hoist a cold one in your honor on Friday night... Regards, Pete...:typing: |
Pete, remember to sit close to me, I think I owe you a couple of drinks! We'll keep Howard close by, to keep me in line ;)
And Ron, I'll tip one for you to, Ed |
Hi Ron..........I do not post very many items, but I will now.
I know the feeling of owning a Harley and the wife not wanting to ride, but we seem to agree that if it's what I like then it's ok. It seems that you are going to miss a great time . If any of the "boys" are NAPCA members you could plan on meeting at the annual meeting in Aug. And for those who are not members it is a very benificial organization and now is the time to join , this would be a chance for us all to meet and to see some very rare lugers. My familys prayers are with you Leo |
I know how that weakness is when dealing with cancer. My mother had advanced breast cancer before telling anyone about it or getting it even looked at. I just couldn't believe the weakness that accompanies cancer.
My prayers are with you and your wife. |
Ron, I will pray for your wife. I have just be diagnosed as having a basal cell maelanome on the top of my head, in the scalp. Hoping the surgeon can get it all, they got the last one of my leg, I'm with you and your wife!!!!
|
Thanks again everyone. She is doing much better today. Actually had some solid food for the first time in 6 weeks.
Bob, I wish you the best of luck! Ron |
Ron,
I was hoping to see you at the Reno show since it's much easier for me to drive the 600 miles to Reno than the 100 miles to Eugene. Maybe it's all the yellow and green clothing combinations in Eugene, I prefer the orange and black (class of '70). All gayety aside, my best wishes for your wifes quick recovery. We will miss your keen wit and extensive knowledge. And I will let you know the next time I am going to be in Eugene. I do have a niece and nephew there and we should visit them one of these days. Best wishes for you and your wife, Bob M. |
Don't know much about these shows as we don't have them here.. I wish the best of luck and a fast recovery
|
Bob M,
Unfortunately, the yellow and green is permeatimg the walls, to the point of nausea. The big yellow O's on the back windows of vehicles has become an epidemic. The funny part is the majority of the walking and rolling billboards are transplants. Trying to be natives. I live in Springfield, where Eugene is considered a foriegn country. And getting more foriegn every day. If the U of O blew up tomorrow. I would consider it a plus. An example: There is a boulivard that connects Eugene and Springfield. Until 1959 it was called Country Club road. In 1959, Oregons Centennial year. Springfield re-named our half Centennial Blvd. Eugene retained the Country Club Rd half until a few years ago and then they changed to Centennial Blvd also. 2 years ago there came a big push from Eugene to rename it Martin Luther King Jr Blvd. Springfield by general consensus, chose to retain the Centennial Blvd name. In honor of the pioneers who stuggled and died on the Oregon trail, to settle Oregon. To make a long story short. Springfield is now considered Bigotfield, Springburg, Springtucky, you name it. If they had their way, we would be required to bow to the west 4 times a day. Morgan, Thankyou for your sentiments. Ron |
Ron,
I've been where you are, the better half undergoing radiation treatments and the whole lot. I won't be in Reno anyway, but I'll wish we both could have been there and the best for your lady. |
Noel,
Thanks for your comments. It's kind of like being locked in hell, is'nt it? Your whole life stops. And revolves around the treatments. Ron |
Add my prayers to the list Ron. The power of prayer is too often underestimated...

Hey Ron,
Eight of us got together for dinner on Thursday night at the Reno gun show..we had a toast to you and for your wife's speedy recovery. Present were Russ Withem, Tom Beasley, Bob Maddox, Doc Fisher, Ron Wood, Dwight Gruber, Ed Tinker, and me. Great way to start off the gun show weekend. You were missed ! Regards, Pete...:typing: |
Pete, Ron showed up Friday afternoon! His wife kicked him out and told him he had a 30 hour reprieve (and get the %$#* from under-foot for 30 hrs) :D
We went to dinner at the steak house, there were 15 or 16 folks there!!! Let me see, well, this is easier, here are pictures!! Jan Still, his lovely wife Fran, Doug Coffey, Klaus and his friend that I missed his name, Ron Wood, Ron Smith, Herb, Dwight, Russ, Howard (policelugers) and his lovely wife Sandy, Bob Maddix, James and his lovely wife, Tom B, heck, I think that was everyone! For some reason I didn't take pictures that turned out of the left table!! http://forum.lugerforum.com/lfupload/reno_007.jpg http://forum.lugerforum.com/lfupload/reno_010.jpg http://forum.lugerforum.com/lfupload/reno_011.jpg http://forum.lugerforum.com/lfupload/reno_012.jpg http://forum.lugerforum.com/lfupload/reno_002.jpg http://forum.lugerforum.com/lfupload/reno_003.jpg http://forum.lugerforum.com/lfupload/reno_004.jpg http://forum.lugerforum.com/lfupload/reno_006.jpg . . I had a really nice time, first night Russ and I bs'd until 1:30, then he made us get up at 7:15! It was a really good trip, visited with some good friends, traded and bought, saw more guns than last time, a lot of lugers from established dealers, some others, well, Dwight can give a better report, I am a lousy note taker. !!! :D |
oops, I DID take one!!
Ron S looks like I surprised him :D http://forum.lugerforum.com/lfupload/reno_013.jpg |
Got home two hours ago. The guy with Klaus was his brother. I don't think I got his name. I look like my lobotomy was successful, in that picture.
I had a great time and a great meal. Tom and Ron Wood were a blast to visit with. And Klaus is the most knowledgable and thorough unit mark expert anyone could ever meet. An amazing gentleman! Doc and Russ were great to visit with too. Doc is a nut. Bob, if you get to Eugene give me a call. We'll go have a brewski or two. Ron Forgot. Jan's after one of my Lugers. Possible Trade in the offing, maybe. And Dwight had a print out of Luger data in every pocket. He's pretty amazing in his own right. Had a great time! Thanks Guys. |
Greatly enjoyed the dinner with all you guys. Sorry my hairless scalp burned into those photos! It was such a revelation and pleasure to see Ron appear "out of nowhere" at the show. You are a great guy and take fantastic pics, but you should have left me out! Hope to see all of you at future shows.
|
hey, I took the pics! :D
I could leave the pics out, but we think you're a great guy Herb, so we like the pictures of you :D Ed |
Ed, I am blushing! Hope the whole lot of us can get together again sometime soon. What a fountain of knowledge amongst us all!
