Ed and Terry Tinker
The Tinkers have lost their home and several of their pets, most of their belongs to a house fire.....please pray for them....Ed is of course off the internet, I have his cell # but he is very upset, busy and just not with it right now....PL
|
Thanks for letting us know. They will be in my thoughts and prayers. Is there anything that we can do to assist from afar?
Tom A. |
I also wished I know how to help at this time and from such distance, he is very upset over loosing the pets, if anyone in his area had a litter of kittens, I would surly pay for one and give it to them....
|
Gentlemen, Tom speaks of assistance and I am a man of action.
Ed and Terry will need something....I don't care what it is but something insurance will not cover. It might be something they need it might be something they want. I propose to hold a raffle and advertise it on both Forums. Ellie and I will put up a Genuine Krieghoff loading tool, Eagle 2. As well, we will be offering a set of complete Artillery leathers made by me in my shop. Your choice of color, light brown, dark brown or black, cream or orange linen thread. That will be everything except the holster and stock. Includes: Carry strap and steel studs, boot and keeper strap, toe strap , top closure strap, four brass washers & screws and the large steel washer and screw to attach the boot keeper strap and toe strap to the wrist of the stock. This will all be made with steel hand hammered rivets and studs. Just as the Germans would have done at the turn of the Century. A real Museum piece even if I do say so. I will even fit the whole thing to your stock and holster if you wish to send it to me. (If you want to see photos of either of these items, either email me or volunteer to post them on here!) There will be two (2) winners in this raffle. The first ticket drawn out of a coffee can will get first choice. The second ticket drawn gets the remaining prize. Any ticket buyer will have TWO chances to win! I am using movie tickets that are numbered...I have 80 of them. I know that out of the thousands of members both Forums have we can sell all 80 tickets. I will not complicate this as I want it to happen as soon as possible. Ed and Terry might need some quick cash. It will run for ten days only. However many tickets I can sell in ten days will be what Ed and Terry will receive minus any Pay Pal expenses. Ellie and I are donating these two items totally free as our way of saying thanks for the many years of help Ed has given us all. You can send the price of a ticket, $20.00 by pay pal or send it quick by snail mail. Check or money order if fine by me! Pay Pal.... magicbelle@yahoo.com Include all pertinent contact information. (Once Paypal notifies me of receipt of payment, I will send you a confirmation, I will attach 1/2 a ticket to the paypal notice, and put the other 1/2 in the coffee can; therefore it will be a "blind drawing".) If you send a donation for a ticket via snail mail; the same thing will happen, however please include your email address so that I can notifiy you that I have received payment! Snail Mail Address: J. Burney, 13320 45th Lane, Yuma, AZ 85367 Please indicate that this is for the "Ed/Terry Tinker Drawing". Include all pertinent contact information. I hope all of you know me well enough to know I would run this honestly. My reputation is worth more than what little this will bring in for Ed and Terry. So, let the raffle begin! Scrape up 20 bucks and try to win one of these great prizes! Even if you are not a winner you will know you gave to a great cause. The drawing will be 4PM Mountain time on March 22nd. Thanks, Jerry & Ellie Burney[B] |
WOW total great idea, I will send a small package Monday with my check for several chances and an original unmarked loading tool you can use as third place if that is OK with you...Yhank you so much for this!
|
What state do they live in? Anything else I can do? Please let me know!
Bob |
Jerry what a wouderful thing you are doing. I emailed your PayPal for 2 tickets.
|
Gunman, Thanks. If you spend much time on either Forum you immediately realize Ed is almost the first to welcome newbies and is ever there to offer an opinion or help in some way. I can't imagine how many hours he spends helping others on these Forums.
Now it's time for our "Band of Brothers" to help back. Now it seems that Howard is offering another prize. Thanks Howard! " an original unmarked loading tool ." Therefore, anyone purchasing a ticket will have three chances to win. I have already had cash donations and promises of ticket purchases as well as the offer of a third prize...Get your 20 bucks in as fast as you can. I will keep everyone posted on whats going on....Jerry Burney |

This is a wonderful thread... I've always wanted to "pay it forward" to someone, like Ed - who tirelessly give to this Forum and Jan's Forum.
So - to the raffle, I'll add an HK magazine to go with Jerry's loading tool (I have no idea which one yet) and a copy of Mr. Gibson's "Kreighoff Parabellum". As well - I reserve the right to add more prizes to the pot. I wish I could do more - except to thank Howard, Jerry and all the folks for their support and this thread... John D. |
OK - I just decided.....
If the raffle reaches $3000 or more - then I'll donate this RIG to the winner. It will need to go to your FFL or to a C&R (I'll pay shipping): http://forum.lugerforum.com/showthre...=&postid=58020 I wish I could do more. Jerry - please keep me posted on the total, in private. John D. |
wonderful idea , I will have a check for two tickets in the mail to you on Monday morning.
Craig |
Jerry you may need to extend the deadline so as to get all the donations lined out, I will send the tool out Monday and send $60 for three chances
|
There is one bright aspect for which to be thankful --- which is --- Ed and Terry were not killed or injured.

boy...
I can't say enough... Of course my first impression is to say no... Howard, we found two of our cats alive, hiding in the garage, one mid-day, the other 9PM... The other two dogs (my wife is a 20 yr long Vet Tech, and that is why we have so many animals...) All guns are safe, I had them locked up... The firemen were wonderful, as were the cops, neighbors... Damn, I feel lucky, depressed but lucky... Insurance will take care of most things, we bought new clothes yesterday evening, I had Jan Stills books in the living room, and I grabbed them. They stunk the pick up so bad, it was horrible... They say they can fix most things, and remove the smell, and hopefully specifically books.. Anyway, thanks guys, I really don't think I can accept anything, but that is my pride and I imagine John can convince me otherwise... Ed PS: Glen, staying at a friends, he has a large house, is out of town, and I can keep my animals here, and live the basement while they repair my house, but thanks! |
Ed,
You should check your policy. Our house was severely damaged (and condemmed afterward) by hurricane Charley in August. Our homeowners policy really covered a lot. It pays for the house (with a deductable), a rental for maybe a year ($$ limit), moving, travel to visit the house being repaired (many damaged houses in our town--destroyed motels--no local rentals available), damaged contents, damaged boat lift, etc. etc. This should be a big help if you get a good adjuster. |
Thanks al, my brother in law and sister had a fire about 5 years ago (he is also a lawyer), so they are feeding me with tips too.
Thanks, apprecaite things like that to make me think straight.... Ed |
I don't know what to say. We are so joyful that you escaped. And so sorry for your pets that didn't. We do hope you were able to salvage family history, ect. Our thoughts are with you. G. W. Gill and family.
|
I do have one interesting thing. One of the younger firemen came into the 2nd floor and saw my father in laws flag (the one that was draped over his coffen), it was also a case my dad made for my wife as a surprise, had John's flag, some of his medals and American Legion hat. He grabbed it and tossed it out of the house so it would definately be saved...
That touched me greatly. All the stuff is just things, but memories mean a lot... Ed |
God Bless you and that Fireman...

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Fellows, The Raffle is going very well. In only 5 hours we have sold 35 tickets and collected many cash contributions. The Luger community Members have really stepped up and shown their generosity. I want to personally thank you all. Many of you have asked what you can do and I want to recommend you buy a raffle ticket. Having been where Ed is at I know that money is important to solving some problems we would all help with if we were there. Money will never replace all of Ed and Terry's precious treasures but it is what we can do. Again, I will keep everyone informed on a daily basis. Thanks everyone! Please read my previous post on how you can help. Thanks Jerry Burney John D has added a Krieghoff mag and a copy of Krieghoff parabellum to the prize pot. This makes 5 prizes that will be drawn. Your odds are getting better! He also mentions a Hi-Power rig if the pot gets to $3,000.00 or up. Keep your donations and ticket purchases coming....Apparently it's only going to get better! Remember the winning ticket holder picks first out of the prizes offered, second second and so on. Thanks, Jerry Burney |
Ed, It's great to hear that it was'nt as bad as it could have been. And a very honorable and thoughtfull action by the Fireman in saving something that important to your family.
If I can do anything at all, call me. Ron |
Jerry,
add me to the raffle, sent payment via PayPal Ed you and yours are in our prayers Jim |
Ed, as soon as I read this thread, Police Luger dropped me your cel and I left you a message. We've an extra room here in Littleton (Daughter is in Afganistan), you are more than welcome to stay here, we've a yard and gun safe, eats and warm water, call us. Remember, Ben Lomond meeting this Thursday.
|
Ed and Terry, I'm so happy you both escaped, the animals are safe and the guns are OK. I came in rather late on this shocking thread but am gratified that the "guys" are rallying. My raffle donation goes out tomorrow to Jerry and I'm adding a DE/63 proofed tool to the raffle pool. Hope you are back up soon, Ed.
|
Ed-- It's very gratifying to be able to help a guy like you who has helped so many others. Al :) :) :)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Herb, Many thanks for the ticket and the tool donation. It is much appreciated. Many people have donated additional prizes and they will all be recognized and given away in this drawing. As of last night we had a total of five and Herb's tool makes it six prizes. I just got a personal message from Tom Armstrong and in addition to his more than generous cash contribution he has a K date holster he is adding to the Pot! That makes 7 prizes and if that don't make you drool into your beer I don't know what would do it.... We have now sold 45 tickets and have about 10 more promised and in the snail mail. We should be able to sell all 80 quickly. Sunday is a slow day so Monday should see a great response from our more than generous Members. I will post a daily sit rep and once again I want to thank you all for your responses and generosity. I especially want to thank John Dunkle and Jan Still. They have graciously allowed me to do this on their sites and I am ashamed that I did so without their permission. I apologize to both of them for this oversight. In my enthusiasm to help I did not do it but since neither one has kicked me off I guess it's alright. Anyway, Thanks to the both of you. Jerry Burney To Buy a ticket and possibly win one of the many prizes offered you can send by Pay Pal: magicbelle@yahoo.com or send me a snail mail(Quick!) Jerry Burney 13320 45th Lane Yuma, AZ 85367 928 342 7583 |
Ed,
You are in my thoughts, good luck with rebuilding. Jerry I have sent my $20 for the raffle if it's full just send the money on to Ed. Bob M. |
Jerry, please put me down for 5 tickets--the check is on the way. And thank you for organizing this so quickly.
DougT |
I only found out about this today. My heart goes out to you Ed. If for no other reason than the knowlage and enjoyment that I recieve for being on this board i'm in. I'll be sending a snail mail to you Jerry. If it doesn't make it in time for the drawing I want it to go in the pot anyway. Thank you Ed for suffering fools like me and trying to teach me something .
|
Bob, Doug, Pipeman, and all the members. Thanks for your support.
George Anderson has suggested I open up ticket sales somewhat to allow for the extra prizes that have been donated. I think this is a good idea for two reasons. Many people have used snail mail to send in ticket purchases and I do not want to leave any of them out. Secondly, John Dunkle has made an exceptionally generous offer of a Hi-Power rig if we reach 3 grand. This by itself is reason to try for this number. I don't believe any ticket holder would mind a few more tickets in the pot if they have a chance at this grand prize. Already there have been some stunning contributions to the prize pool. I will be listing these and their donors. Right now there are seven prizes. Thanks again to all....Jerry Burney |
Thanks guys, you don't know how this affects Terry and I !! We really are touched.
This forum has meant so much to me, the history, the sharing, the meeting of asssorted members, jeez, I think I have met 10 people through this forum and Jans, NOT counting the luger fest we had in Phoenix 3 years ago? I really do apprecaite it, more than I can express in words... Ed |
Jerry put me in for 2 more tickets pay pay on the way
|
Raffle
Jerry, my check's in the mail....
Ed, thanks for all the help in the past and I'll say a prayer for your future. :bigbye: |
Ed, You are giving these guys an opportunity to win some GREAT stuff. Heck, I'm REALLY sorry I can't buy a hundred dollars worth of tickets! Ellie says I can't get any because it would look rigged if I won anything. That's the worst thing about running the raffle.....
I always think it would be the worst calamity possible to have a house fire. I'm sure something is worse but it's bad....All of us that are involved hope this will take a little sting out and let you know this Band of Brothers not only want to help but WILL help. Jerry Burney |
Ed and Terry have been on my mind pretty much constantly since the announcement. My heart and prayers go out to them. My check by snail mail will go out tomorrow and, like pipeman45, if it doesn't get there in time for the raffle drawing it goes into the pot anyway.
|
Ed,
I wish you and Terry the very best. I know this must be a very difficult time for you. I hope it helps to know you have such wonderful friends. Keep your chin up, everything's going to be all right. Tracy |
Ed:
My condolence for your unfortunate loss. Jerry: Check in smail Ken D |
