Bordered checkered grips :)

OK, guys, I'm taking a vote! These are the Cocobolo grips with the requested "border" checkering. The top pair has a 3/16" border and the bottom pair has a 1/4" border. Which do you prefer? After finishing, I noticed that the pattern at the bottom of the bottom set of grips is not identical, but that won't happen again! Personally, I think the top pair looks better, especially around the magazine release.

Hugh, even your mistakes are beautiful!

They sure would look nice on anybody's shooter or presentation gun!

Don't worry Ted...

He can do grips in his sleep... work on YOUR baby is safe!

Dok 04-09-2001 06:10 PM

NOW the question is...

how will they look with a Ted's Total Doll Job??? I like 'em cuz they resemble the Borchardt.

Dok 04-09-2001 06:13 PM

And you were worried...

about your source of grips drying up... these are primo.

I agree. The narrow border looks better. VERY NICE !!

Re: Bordered checkered grips :)

Absolutely magnificent!! The emphasis seems to be on the top grips (they are both fine looking grips). Put me down for a pair. (Ted, you need these on yur baby, by golly).

Orders for grips :|

Ok, guys, 3/16" border; I have the following in this order:

Bill: 1 pr grip safety

Joe: 1 pr reg

Frank: 1 pr reg

Milt: 1 pr reg

Wes: 1 pr reg

Jerry: 1 pr reg, 1 pr grip safety

It will take a while, because I have to order more grips to redo. In the meantime, I should get the Nille Walnut ones in this week and can possibly do a pair to post on here for comparison. Then each of you can decide which you want. Price will be $85 for the Cocobolo & $125 for the Walnut. You can email me your preference, I will also need to know the date and make of your gun, as the Mauser frames are slightly wider than the DWM/Erfurt ones.

Crap I knew it, you need a clone Hugh, one Hugh to do barrel work, one to do knife work, one to do Baby Lugers, one to do your bluing and one to do your Grips, hell you need 7.......no you need another to go to gun shows, how about 8 of you! The Baby will now take 8 times as long !!

I am DOOOOOMED Maybe If I had been Baby #1? You need a whole pasel of Hughs to make ends meet! A bunch of shop elves that work for cheap! Wonder what Santa's helpers are doing in the off season! Boo HOOOO!! BOO HOOOOO!!! Sigh.......boo......hoo! (sigh)

Der OberKommandant 04-09-2001 10:25 PM

Achtung!!!!

By order of the Kamp Kommandant, all grip work must wait until after Ted's baby is completed! Then and only then can grip work commence.
