A bit of unbelievable news today

So, I know I haven't posted on here in a while but I got some news today that I thought you gentlemen may appreciate. About 25 years ago my house was broken into I was a new collector at that time 16 years old and some so-called friends broke into my home and stole a couple of pieces of my fledgling collection.

Two of the pieces stolen were a matching 1936 S/42 Luger and a matching BYF P.38 ( the year escapes me).

My mother got a phone call today from an ATF agent stating that my pistols have been locked up in an evidence locker since 1996 the scum bag that had them was convicted of murder and my property had been forgotten about. Tomorrow at 10 Am the ATF agent is supposed to return them to me.

I am hoping they are at least close to the condition that they were when they were stolen from me but I am not holding my breath. It's good to know that they will be back in my hands again tomorrow though I will post pictures after I get them back

Miracles do happen!!

I cant help but feeling skeptical that the ATF would just hand them over

Edward Tinker 04-19-2016 08:35 PM

If they have a police record of being your guns, then I don't see why they wouldn't be returned.

Keep us informed and go buy a powerball :)

Good news!

Great news indeed! What a wonderful story. Keep us posted when they are returned... and pictures would be appreciated.

Walter

First of all thanks for sharing the good news, hope those pistols have been kept properly, in any case please keep us posted!

Kind regards.

Congrats on your miracle. Looking forward to seeing the first photos of your long lost guns. Hopefully they were in a controlled environment. Just think how much they will have appreciated in value over the years! Please keep us informed of your progress and post photos when you get them.

Yeah today is the day. I am not holding my breath on them being in good shape
The funny thing is that this was the first luger and P.38 i ever owned.

So its kind of neat to think that they will be mine again
I was a novice at the time and i believe the luger may have been
Restored.

Cant wait to have them back.

Wow tha is pretty cool, congrats!

Hopefully no property markings were applied by over zealous police!

Okay they were dropped off at my Mothers house.
She took this picture and sent to me. They look pretty promising so far.
Minus the tape that was used to attach the magazines to the guns.

Ill take higher resolution photos tonight or tomorrow. I might need tonight alone with them to welcome them home.

Amazing, hopefully the tape didn't discolor the bluing...

I don't think that sort of tape could spoil the bluing, they're sort of plastic cable ties, and thank God not adhesive tape.

Sergio

You're not seeing the tape. It's around the grips.

Some times, it is just your day, and today was yours. The whole forum is very happy for you, and nice to know that the scumbag that stole them is in prison!! :jumper:

It took 20 years to get the guns back, the scumbag probably got out of prison 10 years ago.
