after market magazines
 

Does anyone use aftermarket magazines? I bought some many years ago from Cheaper Than Dirt (or Center Fire Systems, or somewhere) and retrofitted the plastic floorplates with wooden floorplates. I notice they only hold 7 rounds. What's up with that?

So unless you are heading into battle, what difference does it make? LugerDoc mentioned that a lot of feeding problems can be solved by not stuffing that last round in.

I would guess that most folks that shoot P-08 lugers use aftermarket mags....especially if their originals have wood bases. The original mags are worth a fair amount of money, depending on what mag it is that you have. Also, some of the old original mags may have bent feed lips and not function that well anyway.......plus weak mag springs.

The 7-Shot mags are very likely made by Triple-K. Not my favorite mags, but still perfectly functional.

And legal in New York...

CN, To save yourself some work, Triple K does also make both a blued and stainless WOOD bottom mags. I usually stock the stainless ones, but currently on back order. TH

Anytime I need a magazine, I look at the MecGar line first. Function, fit and most noticably, finish are their strong points. I use the 20 rd'rs for my Marlin Camp 9. Our "Resident Magazine Specialist", G.T. :jumper:, uses them for his projects. He is located in the PHX area also. Shoot him a PM. :cheers:

The only aftermarket I ever got good results with were the MecGar but all I ever use anymore are originals.

Living in Phoenix you will have the distinct privilege of dealing with GT in person. A GREAT guy to know, even if Lugers are not your passion... :cheers:

You're right John. G.T. came to my home a year or so ago to trade some parts. We always said that we would get together at some future date, but alas... .

Another nice guy I met here as a result of the forum was Chuck Campbell. Visiting the "World of Lugers" a 1/2 dozen times was an experience also.

$399.95 seems pricey, but I might consider it if I have a good year this year, but not if it's just going to jam on me and I have to end up sending it back for refund and possible 15% restocking fee. Also, where can I get a BROWN snail drum magazine carrier? IMA has them in black, but I want it to match the brown replica holster/shoulder stock rig I already have for my Artillery Model Luger.

$399.95 seems pricey Clark..That's a supposed working drum AND loader! I will know next week if these truly work. I ordered 2 sets. I will shoot both of them and report back. If they really work it's the bargain of the Century. Cheap as a broom. Before this the cheapest repro loader I found was $550. Much less a DRUM! If these really work I am going to buy all they have and corner the market...

I'm headed to the Philippines next month. I wonder what kind of Asian knockoffs I can find over there (snail drum magazines, carriers, holsters, grips, etc.) My wife wants me to take her to the Monster Mall in Manila.

How can I locate G.T.? I just found out those 7 round aftermarket magazines do NOT lock up in my 1920's Alphabet series commercial P08. I had to remove the toggle train and tap it out from the top. :crying:

Also, could he help me with some 15 round M1911 magazines that jam?
