New Member & my newly bought 41 byf 'Black Widow'
I've already posted a few pictures of my luger today but those were close up shots on certain parts asking technical questions. I just thought I might as well post the entire thing. Enjoy! Oh, and sorry for the picture overload.

also, picked her up for 2k. Did I get jipped?
|
There are a few parts that show suspicously little bluing wear, but I'm going to assume that it is just the photos (or my old eyes...). To me $2k for a late P08 seems borderline on the high side, but if the finish is original and all numbers match (except mag, grips) then it is no ordinary old warhorse. Enjoy!

Yup I think it's just the photos! All parts matching, grips are authentic and so is mag (no serial number on mag (it's an fxo) and the grips don't have one either but somebody put 'byf 02' on the inside of them Here's another one up close of whatever area of the luger this is (receiver block? )

James,
You should find the number "5" stamped on the inside of the trigger plate. Marc |

I wouldn't say you got ripped off, but you did pay top dollar! Good news is the price on these original finished Lugers will always appreciate. So you will not lose out over time.
What is the serial number with suffix under the barrel on the frame? Bob |

402 is the serial number and the suffex looks to be an L, I think. Cursive, of course. Could be a cursive I but I'm pretty sure it's an L |
Nice gun, but has it been refinished? The firing pin appears blued.

I agree that some of the small stuff looks like it just came out of the bluing tank. But then other parts, side plate, etc, show very light but honest bluing wear. It is a tough call. Sky: If it is important to you to know if the finish has been messed with, I'd like to see more photos, including better light on the firing pin, the underside of the toggle, side of the toggle assy, etc. Natural light, no flash. Regardless, it is a nice late P08. dju |
Oh man I hope it hasn't been refinished :/ The guy I bought it from said nothing of refinishing work.
I'll snap some pictures tomorrow and post them and then you guys can let me know what you think! |
With Lugers, there is no such thing as picture overload. I love looking at the photos posted on this forum.
|
At that price you probably should have gotten athe holster and tool.
Jack |
It looks 100% original with some storage wear on the left side. At the price you paid, you did just fine. Add a holster, tool and second mag to it and it would easilt bring 3K.

Ok so I couldn't do natural lighting because it's dark out so I did it under a lamp. If these photos still aren't sufficient to tell if it's been refinished, just say so and i'll go out tomorrow afternoon and shoot some more outside

so, would using a silicon wiping cloth on this badboy be ok? I noticed that when applied it makes the finish look like it's been oiled, but then it starts to dry and leaves interesting marks (whipe-offable) on the finish. |
