Borchardt on Gunbroker

This should be interesting to watch. The seller doesn't have any feedback.

looking for top dollar on rare luger collector
so, which rare collector is he talking about?

Interesting that the seller has no previous sales on GB.

Something smells like kapusta! 4 pictures for such an interesting gun. Includes the case but offers no pictures!! Finally no Reserve....

Ron Wood 07-20-2010 11:20 AM

I think the case he is referring to is the holster.

cirelaw 07-20-2010 11:26 AM

Still Kapusta!!! PS Thank You

KAPUSTA

one large head of cabbage, chopped
2 cans diced tomatoes (with liquid)
2 cans water
one pound bacon
salt and pepper to taste

Chop head of cabbage into medium to small pieces. Place in a large boiler and add 2 cans of diced tomatoes with liquid. Add 2 cans of water and place bacon on top. Cook covered on medium until boiling, then add salt and pepper to taste. Simmer until bacon cooks and cabbage cooks down, stirring frequently (approximately 5-6 hours). Uncover and let liquid cook out. Please note: This recipe is NOT appropriate for a crock pot.

Oh, I guess we both forgot to mention as with the gunbroker deal it might not smell good.

Kapusta is Polish for cabbage. It became a household word in the 1950s when Ernie Kovacs' comedy televison show featured the "Kapusta Kid"

I don't know why this gunbroker deal is getting a bad rap. I have never sold on gunbroker but if I did put up some of my guns, having no previous sales and no feedback, would I receive the same comments?

Greg G 07-20-2010 05:09 PM

No reserve, started at $.01, 7 day auction?
Seems kind of strange on a rare item.

Ron Wood 07-20-2010 05:17 PM

Could be bogus, but could also be that the seller isn't very auction savvy and thinks the rarity of the gun will run the price up into the stratosphere. It will be interesting to follow this.

cirelaw 07-20-2010 05:18 PM

For Me it was the total lack of description and only 4 pictures of such an interesting luger. other have to feel the same due to lack of interest. I might start the bidding tommorow with a $1000 bid!

Greg G 07-20-2010 07:28 PM

Looks like it may get enough "buzz" on the forums to get the bidding driven up. I see Horst Held, a dealer here in the DFW area, is bidding on it.

Eric,
I agree. Anyone used to Gunbroker has seen a lot bigger production over run of the mill items.

MFC 07-21-2010 12:24 AM

According to the sellers added info the barrel is mismatched... #1618 with the frame and other parts #1681. I wonder if it is a typo, or if it is actually mismatched?

Ron Wood 07-21-2010 12:51 AM

I think it is a typo.

Edward Tinker 07-21-2010 04:55 AM

We all start somewhere when dealing on gunbroker. I have only like 12-15 positives and on auction arms only 1 or 2?

I have seen far worse pictures, far less pictures and far less description from someone with no feedback.

so, to me, I don't let this run a red flag, a yellow flag perhaps when no feedback.

sheepherder 07-22-2010 07:13 AM

Bidding went over my budget already... :(

cirelaw 07-22-2010 12:01 PM

Its a good way to get exposure by causing us to start a long thread on his sale! Its already over $8k.

Ron Wood 07-22-2010 11:16 PM

I am betting Horst would bid it up that high, and probably more. I figured it would go over $9K pretty quickly.
