Obama and guns

I was having coffee at the local watering hole this morning and one of the guys mentioned that he had heard that Obama would try to make things very hard to purchase/sell rifles, pistols, etc.. I haven't heard of anything like this so far in the campaign and was wondering if anyone else had heard it.

Thanks, Brent B.

Brent, you cam bank on it. First will be gun shows followed closely by a new and even more far reaching "assault weapons ban". A year or so later I would expect he'll go after pistols.

guns'n'politics

Hi Brent, The gun issue has been a tough nut for the Dem's to crack, and they have learned to adapt their political philosophy so as not to be high profile in that arena... Some Dem's are pro gun, but not many, and not historically... nobody really knows what obama is all about..but you can bet it ain't going to be good for us! As the old dog hard line Dem's absolutely hate guns.. and us... Best to you, til...lat'r...GT:( :( :(

Brent, this has been the talk of the forums for a bit, over the last couple of months.... ;)

I hope that folks have voted today; anyone who doesn't has NO excuses....

Geo, you'll be happy to know I voted straight down the party line, some party called GOP?

Ed

Thanks for the imput. Maybe things will end up going to a prohibition type era with a flourishing black market. Kinda makes me want to start going to all the garage sales and asking them if they have any guns they want to get rid of so there won't be a paper trail. I voted a straight GOP ticket also. Brent B.

Edward Tinker 11-04-2008 03:24 PM

Its been speculation since neither party desired to bring it up and/or answered very many questions on it....

Guess I should keep that nice M1 Carbine I picked up recently ;)

Why worry about what Nobama will or won't do? That fuzzy headed foreigner is not going to be elected. He will fade into obscurity and leave the Dems to figure out what loser to run against McCain-Palin 4 years from now.

Jerry, I hope you're right about that fuzzy headed foreigner not getting elected. I'm a bit nervous about this election. I've never seen so many people swayed by someone who talks so much and says nothing. Brent B.

" PRAY JERRY IS RIGHT"

Brent B. 11-04-2008 04:07 PM

Hi Tac, glad to see you posted and always appreciate your opinion on this and other topics. Honestly, I've heard very little about how Obama feels about guns. I would have thought the NRA would be more involved in this election if there was a chance he'd be trying to get purchasing limits, mag ban, assault weapons ban, etc.. Possibly the lack of gun talk was to keep the NRA out of it. I enjoy having my C&R license, my CC permit and my tax stamp for my machine gun. Best, Brent B.

Brent B. 11-04-2008 04:38 PM

Tac, I was replying to your first reply and then saw your second post after I'd submitted it. Yes, if elected he'll be the arab's best friend and all my paperwork won't be hanging in the bathroom but will be used for a different purpose in that room. I stocked up on ammo and reloading components a few years ago and have enough that I can shoot (if that will still allowed) for the rest of my life and still leave plenty for my sons. Like the gunman, I'm praying Jerry is right. Best, Brent B.

Brent, The American Rifleman magazine.... mailed to some millions of members has outlined their stance throughly and they sponsored many media, radio and TV ads telling the American Public what a dispicable rat this guy is.
When all this shakes out we can put him and his kind out of our minds untill the Dems come up with a kook farther to the left. Who that would be I cannot imagine. Stalin is dead.

Sit back..relax, all is well in the Republic.

As I am watching the returning coming in, I can only hang my head and pray.

I am glad that I visited this web site now. I hope and pray that Jerry is right. But here in Michigan, the dems have all the newspapers in their back pocket. So I'm getting totally biased news. My gut feeling is that o' bomber is going to win. I went the straight GOP ticket too. I hope that more did too. Listening to all of the above comments made me feel good and that I am not the Lone Ranger anymore.

Now that "it" has won the election, I'm heading out this week and buying a couple more handguns and 8-10 thousand rounds of ammo just for storage before "it" takes office. With the wife's blessing no less.

No, I'm not a doomsayer, just being prepared for the inevitable gun bans.

drbuster 11-05-2008 12:54 AM

Let's hope that the miserable economy, record high unemployment, dismal auto sales, increasing mortgage defaults, continued major retailer failures, accelerating home deflation values and last but not least, finding money to fund everything (read higher taxes) keep "it" busy so that the topic of gun control may not even be discussed for at least four years!

tracyp 11-05-2008 02:36 AM

I think the Democrats believe they have been empowered by the election. I'd be willing to bet they will try and pass new gun control laws at the federal and state level. It won't be there top priority, but they'll get around to it.
