Hey, the guy said it would probably be about 12 months and it's been 29 - sooooo he got a little behind!!

John Sabato 08-03-2015 11:19 AM

This could turn out to be the longest single topic thread in Lugerforum history!

This reminds me of those "Bigfoot" shows that run for years, have dozens of researchers, tons of equipment, but.......we........never.....actually.......get......to.......see...... the......big........guy.

Promises are the salve Beelzebub puts on your burns...

DavidJayUden 11-29-2015 11:57 AM

Great! That would make for a very Merry Christmas. I'm optimistically awaiting photos.

Not necessarily so. Eugene Golubtsov may well have been referring to the Russian Orthodox Christmas which will be celebrated on January 7th 2016. Also, his work on Ed's carbine will not be interrupted by a New Year's day hangover, that holiday will be on January 14th.
Regards, Norm

Reminds me of my body guy. I have a roadrunner and a chevelle there he is repainting. He said 3 month turnaround max.. That was 4 years ago. Good luck

Edward Tinker 12-20-2015 07:37 PM

cirelaw 12-20-2015 08:39 PM

alvin 12-20-2015 09:03 PM

Give Eugene a break. Do you work all year and never take vacation :)

cirelaw 12-20-2015 09:26 PM

He needs to find another hobby!!

No. I don't take specific period of time of a year for vacation. I take vacation every week :)... probably every week is an overstatement.. say, every month, that's more accurate.

lugerholsterrepair 12-20-2015 11:11 PM

You get your work done..THEN you take a vacation.

alvin 12-21-2015 08:16 AM

But this reveals one thing -- he got lots of business. That's the only way to interpret this slowness. He's overloaded.

Really?
That's a stretch, may mean he is just slow.

Sorry, but there is no excuse to take 1 year for such a project,
much less two or three, JMHO.

Just a guess. I don't know him.

Or, he got another better paid job, so don't have time on these gun projects.

Otherwise, how to interpret he not only lives normally, but also has spare money to travel... the cost of traveling is much higher than staying at home.

Of course, there are other possibilities, e.g. inherited some money, invested into correct ticker symbols, or won lottery, etc, etc.

alanint 12-21-2015 08:50 AM

There is no such thing as work overload when you are a one man enterprise. You either accept that work which you can reasonably complete, or you do what I suspect Eugene does, which is to accept every project that comes along, hold it hostage and deliver whenever you can.
His reputation has suffered accordingly because of this.

Edward Tinker 12-21-2015 05:22 PM

Its called photoshop folks.... go to his website for the real webpage :)

lugerholsterrepair 12-21-2015 05:55 PM

Its called photoshop folks.... go to his website for the real webpage...On the other hand, why bother? I spent 3 years in the Army. Got a lot done and it seemed like a long time. I wouldn't ask this guy the time of day. When he got around to answering it might be next month. It might be photoshop Ed but this guy's on vacation alright. You would think he would have put Ed's project right up front given the exposure involved. Stupid is as stupid does.

cirelaw 12-21-2015 06:32 PM

Good Point, Jerry~

berkmberk1 12-22-2015 08:43 PM

My two cents

I'll chip in my two cents. Sent Eugene a C96 to restore, in September 2014. In April of this year, he sent me pics of my pistol, in the white, saying all needed work was done except the barrel. He was going to test fire it to see if it could be relined, or would need total replacement. Thats the last I've heard despite several emails that were never answered. I don't really mind waiting considering the expected quality of the end product, but I am concerned in general due to having never received a receipt for the gun. Neither of us is getting any younger, and if something should happen to him, I'm probably out my pistol and cash advance.

wlyon 12-22-2015 08:53 PM

I don't care how good his work is this is not right. He should be avoided.
There are others who do the same things responsibly. Bill

cirelaw 12-22-2015 09:37 PM

His little modified Ponsi scheme! Contact the postal authorities or ATF!!! You have by now nothing to lose! You hard earned money is gone. Hopefully to could deter other victims investing in such shattered dreams!! Eric

CAP Black 12-22-2015 10:42 PM

The records show many unhappy scenarios and only few happy ones. Paying in advance is about the most impossible way to be successful with this person.

Curly1 12-23-2015 03:01 PM

Tell him to get in gear on it or you will report them stolen.

Arizona Slim 12-23-2015 06:23 PM

After reading many comments from forum members about this gentleman over the years there are two things about him that stand out, the first is that he is slower then molasses in January and he does a very poor job of communication with his customers, the second is that his work is absolutely, without question, superb, he is a real craftsman and has an eye for detail. Personally, I don't have the patience that it would take to place an order with him but for those that do always seem to have positive things to say about his work.
