Same amount of time it took George Luger to design his masterpiece. Question is: will it work?

But that's great news!!!

Not about the carbine...but that Ed hasn't been charged with Eugene's murder!!!

...Yet... :soapbox:

Vlim 04-16-2015 03:36 PM

They built complete airports and cities in less than 2.5 years ;)

Ed's patience during this build is very good. Eugene deserves the name 'captain Slow' :)

cirelaw 04-16-2015 04:06 PM

I would ask him for a few photos of his progress to date. Even kidnapers will send a picture that your victims' status and is alive with some progress!! Ed you have the patience of a saint. I pray its not St. Jude. The patron saint of 'lost causes' ~ Eric

I hope it's not just another "next week" promises.

We all care about you Ed. You are our family and a great friend. Our only concern is your happiness not matter how long it takes. Your carbine will be the cream of your collection. He does good work from what I've seen. I'm sure you are doing your best and so must he! I think all of us should lay off for a while and let things occur at their own pace as they will. We don't need updates except an update that its done I love mine and so will you.! Perfection is always worth the wait. At this length of time it better be perfect. Maybe we can start a raffle for a due date! My third grandchild expected in July. Just let us know when your pretty carbine arrives so we can finally put an end to all our wait! I hope it arrives sooner and not later! Ed you are a saint!and good friend for over ten years. Tks Eric

Wow! That is going to look pretty darn nice when said and done. That forearm fits and looks good with the staining. I cant wait to see it when its done.

did anyone get their carbines before me?

Norme 05-14-2015 10:55 AM

You know Ed, this has the makings of a good book, you could illustrate it with the photos, describe your increasing frustration, and, hopefully, it would have a happy ending. You could title it "Waiting for Eugene".
Best regards, Norm

Edward

Really I cant wait to see it when its done, I'm sure it'll look like a piece of art.

If the happy ending is Eugene's trial, I'll buy a copy! :D

I even volunteer to serve on the jury! ;)

fitted forearm to my liking.
Assembled and tested.
Need hotter loads.
It almost grabs the next round, but needs about 15% more.

mrerick 05-23-2015 06:22 PM

Powder, time or money?

Norme 05-23-2015 06:45 PM

I don't know about you guys, but to me it looks like it's far from finished. How old did you say you were Ed? More to the point, how old is Eugene?
Regards, Norm

CapnJohn 06-25-2015 01:27 PM

Ed,
Did you ever get your Luger carbine? and how did it turn out?

sheepherder 06-25-2015 11:31 PM

Ooh! Eugene just sold a pretty Luger carbine on GunAuction.com! :)

http://www.gunauction.com/buy/13429794/

Let's hope Ed's carbine turns out as nice!

...Next year... :(

Isn't that a silver-solder line from adding/replacing the stock lug? The body (frame + barrel extension) of the pistol looks extra-blue in the pics, compared to the barrel and the attaching hdwe. on the stock, almost like fire-blued. Just curious...

sheepherder 06-25-2015 11:56 PM

I figure that Eugene cranks out these Luger carbines kind of like the Luger firing animation on the main page of this site...Ed's carbine is down at the bottom of the 'magazine'; Eugene will sell off another carbine on GB, then another on Gunrunner, and two more, and one final one, then Ed's slot should pop up, and Eugene can get started on it...

I think Eugene said earlier in this thread he had five to finish by Xmas...$3500 isn't a bad price...

What am I missing,
the auction says Original Luger carbine, is it is or is it ain't?

Original, in this context, actually means it's NOT a carbine converted from a pistol. The raw material was a carbine, refurbished. Since the raw material is more expensive, the end product is also relatively more expensive.

Probably he did not make much from this though.

Is this apparent from the pictures in the auction?

I am totally ignorant of Luger carbines and would have thought they all started from a pistol frame, with the exception of the barrel.

sheepherder 07-28-2015 11:53 AM

I was just informed, by a usually reliable source, that Eugene Golubtsov has decided to give up on Ed Tinkers carbine and send all Ed's parts back... :(

This is disappointing news...For Ed, I mean...I gave up on Eugene over a year ago...

DavidJayUden 07-28-2015 12:02 PM

An interesting but unfortunate turn of events. I'm interested in the details, because I have always been an apologist for the Lugerman, because he always seemed to come thru, eventually.

cirelaw 07-28-2015 12:05 PM

That will look great on his resume!!!

Olle 07-28-2015 12:19 PM

Damn... It didn't look like there was too much work left to do, so has he been showing pictures of another build, or what happened?

Edward Tinker 07-28-2015 12:41 PM

Well, actually, its not off but I was a bit upset and said, if I don't get it soon, I want my parts and money back!! :)

So, as of now, he said he is on it and I am awaiting the final product :D

MUCH LONGER AND I WILL GET LEGALLY UPSET - HE HAS TWO FRAMES OF MINE...

cirelaw 07-28-2015 12:43 PM

Ya, The check is in the mail!!

Ben M. 07-28-2015 01:02 PM

this gun have edges of new blue parts aged to show wear of blue? or maybe just picture lighting?

DavidJayUden 07-28-2015 01:33 PM

Ed:
I have long since concluded that it takes threats as well as a lot of huffing and puffing to get Eugene moving.
Glad to hear that good things are still possible.

He is not worth the aggravation no matter how great a job he does.

cirelaw 07-29-2015 02:38 PM

Is he still advertising?

dacotua 08-03-2015 12:21 AM

Im sure glad I read this thread before I thought about using him to restore my Luger. I think I'll seek someone else.
