Look in the links, saw some new 6 inch tubes advertised there.

Hi All,

I've been lurking here for a while now but also heard the same news to my absolute disgust. They want to trash my MG marked 1916 DWM because of its barrel? I have a large problem with that & will send it offshore b4 that happens. Anyone know of those 6" tubes available inside the Land of Oz? Aint a tube controlled if u try & bring it in - I mean won't they do the go-slow @ customs to close us out.

Best,
Mick

I don't think barrels are controlled items, only receivers/actions etc. I've bought plenty of stuff thru the mail from O/S that never gets looked at. I think it would be safe to bring a barrel in, especially at this time of the year.....
And if it is picked up by the brownshirts $100Aus is not a very large investment to lose for the chance of keeping your P08 in my opinion.

Hi Weissen,

thanks for the info! I feel a *little* better & I guess partly wrecking its 'completeness' is better than having it melted down. Any suggestions what's a decent tube to purchase? (I'm going to check out what's happening with the collector's licence & these too.)

cheers,
Mick

I stongly suggest that you have the barrel replacement done carefully enough to keep the old barrel in good condition. At some future time, it may be possible to restore the gun to it's original condition with the original part, even if it is not on your continent. Some future owner will appreciate your effort and foresight.

Hi JS,

thanks for the tip; I'll check it out. We'll see what we can do to preserve it anyway.. still a little hard to believe this is happening in some ways. Others not.

cheers from downunder,

Mick
