Great work. How is the fore-stock held on - to the barrel? I am confused. The barrel moves rearward when fired so the fore-stock must move also. But, there is no room for it to move with respect to the grip frame. I looked to see if there were groves to allow movement and could seen no way for the fore-stock to move. So the fore-stock must be attached somehow to the grip frame was a support welded onto the frame? I am so confused.

Also, where did you get the buttstock metal - the part used to grab the frame????

OOPs, I missed page 2 which shows the extension to the frame. Sorry for my confusion.

Did I miss where the buttstock to frame attachment piece came from also? Make or buy?

Well, it's pretty obvious by now that this particular Luger carbine won't be finished in my lifetime. I'm taking the $6-7 thousand I was hoping to fund a carbine from Eugene with out of the bank and using it as a down payment on a new car.

I don't drive my 86 Corvette anymore, and it's too expensive to repair when something goes wrong (and Corvettes always go wrong) so I'm thinking of an Audi. Nice looking car, and a strong engine. I'd like one of the new Mini's, but the local dealer here has one that's been in his lot over a year and won't deal on it so I'm going elsewhere.

I need to get rid of my Xterra too. I no longer need a 4x4 and the Xterra only gets 15mpg so it's got to go. Between the Corvette sale, the [probable] Xterra trade-in, and the $6 or 7 thousand from the aborted Luger carbine commission, I should be able to get a decent 'sporty' car.

I'm sure that Ed's son will be surprised and delighted to finally receive a Luger carbine from Eugene. It's just a shame that Ed [and I] will never see it... :(

March 10th is one year that we initiated the project - deal agreed upon, etc...

I got behind a little bit, becuse my mill stoped dead in it's

tracks and i spend 4 weeks lookign for parts.

Congrats to me , it's back up and running now.

Snow did nto help anythign as well...

But putting aside all the exuses in the world,

I am shooting to button down in march and get this project

done.


P.S. 10 of 45 barrels have been turned couple of month ago.

finishing up on 10 of 45 breach blocks this month ( does not affect carbine) got someone turinging handles on the mill ;0)

As soon as Carbine for Ed is done.

I am doing 7 inch Navy 45 Luger.

And a 3.5 inch Baby 45 for myself.

Just an FYI

Try a BMW Z4 , I love mine.

Do not spend all the money in one place, carbine is comming.

Yes i take orders, you may be looking at a 6 month + for a completion dates.


it will be a 45 GAP based on one frame.

I have 5 of 5 inch barrels fro Army type
And 3 barrels in 7 inch for Navy types
and one 9 inch possably for a carbine or artillery build 45
and one 3.5 for a baby luger for myself.

yes, I would like to reserve for two 45 gap customs - one in 7 and one in 9 inch bbl
I can provide the donor lugers which are excellent+ condition both mechanical and cosmetic and not of significant collector value

would like both in a target configuration if possible

send you reservation payment now and then provide donor lugers near time you start ?
I am too old to be impatient - 6 to 12 months to completion is ok - and I respect your dedication to quality over time focus - good lifestyle etc

I think this turnaround is rather quick so far IMO. I guess I'm just use to bodyguys restoring cars. Still has my roadrunner and chevelle going on 3 years now ;)

Eugene, would a .40 luger be possible? I know it's a high pressure cartridge.

hey, tell Eugene not to get too excited on 'other' projects, as my carbine has a space WAITING on my desk-top ;)

and a next week or so to start to get to it, I thought she was almost done right before Christmas :)

45 GAP time lines
 

Yes, i agree.

If anyone reads between the lines on my time lines,
it's probably more like 12 month when i say 6 month.

What you got working for you in this case :

Is i have been dying to make one ( read 10 of them)

And getting the client to do it for is just the push i need, to finally make it happen.

I can never find time to do my own projects for fun any more.

Plus all the new parts ( barrel/ breach block / Navy Toggle)
are already in the inventory as well as a 45 GAP custom chamber rimmer

I consider this 45 GAP project a market test for a customer base for a true 45 ACP Luger build ... biger life long dream of mine.

But carbines old a true for me now...

45 is new and fun ;0)

For now work for 45 GAP parts is delegated to my machinists.

Where as putting together a carbine is my privilege as a master ;0)

I do not see why not.

Lugers a strong guns...

It may be even less change then 45 GAP.

Less mods on the frame.

Problem is i got breach block for 45 GAP cut as well as barrels.

And i got nothing for 40.

If i will be making other calibers , I think i like 357 Sig better
