Here is my Luger airgun, grips from Australia, and distressing by 3M synthetic steel wool. I was trying to match my 1917 DWM:)

It might help to put it in a box with a bunch of old files and metal parts, and shake the whole thing around until you're happy with the result! I had a friend who made rustic pine cobblers' benches. He'd scrub down the wear points with a file, whack them with chains and stones to give them a little "age" One of the finishing touches involved giving his 2 1/2 yr. old a hammer...
But, to be period correct, you need a gnarly wood bottom.

What brand/maker is your airgun? It looks different from my Umarex brand. How difficult was it to fit those P08 aftermarket grips from Australia to your airgun?

It is a Umarex, but I distressed it with patience and synthetic wire wool.

The grips took a bit of effort with a dremel. Be careful of the area around the safety, the wood gets pretty thin there. Most of the wood of the grips needs to be removed. There is some delicate cutting to do round the protruding pins near the safety to allow the grips to sit flush. Definitely doable, if you have a dremel!

Your Umarex P08 is different from mine. The thumb saftey on yours is marked as S & F, where mine is marked like my original P08s (in German). Are your side plate, toggle, etc numbered? Mine is numbered. Must be different models out floating around.

It was in the fire position; when I engage the safety it is written in German. All the numbers match (I had to say that:)), and are 15. These are made in Taiwan and branded as Umarex, but are also sold under different brands, so differences could well exist.

Mine was made by Walther. "AC" is clearly stamped on the toggle! :jumper:

Since Umarex owns Walther they can do that.

Thanks for the info. I couldn't see the numbers on the side plate, takedown, etc. from the photos. You are correct about the "S" "F" and then German under the safety......I just took another look at mine.

I am subscribed to this forum but have been receiving no notices. I cannot get on the home page, but I can get on this one. Anyway, rhuff I am glad to see that everything has worked out, Umarex took good care of you and you are happy with your new toy. After all, I did recommend it.

Yes Sir, I am most pleased with the product(now) and with the CS that I received from Umarex. I thank you for your recommendation. My problem now is that I see other models that are calling out to me, especially the M712 Broomhandle that has a selector switch........sooooo many toys, so little money!!

hayhugh 06-24-2015 05:27 PM

I received my M712 Broomhandle about a week ago and it is a hoot.... Really puts out a spray in full auto. $100.00, free shipping. Not bad price for what ya get.

You just HAD to post this info!!.....LOL You are not helping my bank balance any at all.

My neighbor just got one of the M712's. A really fun gun to shoot. My only complaint is that it is a pain to load the magazine. It also really eats CO2 fast.

rhuff 11-08-2015 01:07 PM

The weather has really gotten nice in So. Az., so yesterday I took out my Umarex replica blow-back P-08 and had some fun. I purchased a bb/pellet trap off of Amazon, along with some extra targets, and set up a "shooting range" in my back yard. I ran two CO2 cylinders through it and just had a blast!! These replicas are a lot of fun for the bucks, plus I can shoot in my own back yard.

Does the gas bottle double as a butt stock?

Other type Lugers - Airsoft

These airsoft guns that are made like the navy luger that shows the toggle working. There is also an artillery airsoft replica. These are really cool.
