Saw one at the gun show today. $600. Was getting quite a bit of attention.

600 is what the sell for at least for now. and you get a really nice pine box with it.

I checked one out yesterday and did not care for it the stamped body reminded me of a toy guns when I was a kid. And yes it was heavy.

I got mine for 600 with the box, I agree the casting does look cheap, because it is, i got past those issues, because i do not plan on shooting it alot. way i look at it , who knows if there will be anymore of them, better to buy it now and not get one later.

The GSG Forum is rife with complaints about the GSG StG-44 shooting way low...Nobody from GSG or ATI will say why...Whether it's the .22LR HV ammunition here in US being weaker or or the profile of the .22 rifle being faithful to the more powerful 7.92mm Kurz round...(IOW, they copied the 7.92 rifle sight)...

Some are jacking up the rear sight base ~1/4"; a very few have filed the front sight down...

Anyone here have any problems with it shooting low???

(I haven't fired mine...I'm afraid if I carry it outside anywhere, I will have black SUV's coming out of everywhere)... :(

I've read of one owner stacking three 1/4" flat washers under each rear sight base screw (under the sight leaf flat spring)...Another put two 1/4" nuts under the sight base...

The ideal 'fix' would be a black Delrin rectangle under the sight base...It might look a bit odd...Or maybe not... :rolleyes:

I was surprised at how slow a rate of fire the original 7.92 x 33 caliber StG-44 has, in full auto mode...

I've shot Mark's real Stg 44. Very sweet shooting gun.

How is the recoil??? Comparable to, say, the 7.62 x 39 Russian round???

Chamber it in 8x33, make it semi auto and compatible with original magazines and I'll be all over it.

Recoil is negligible. The 7.92X33 round is slightly less powerful than the 7.62x39 and real Stg's have a really long, strong recoil spring. Nothing ever bottoms out as far as travel under recoil. I've even fired a rare MKb 42(H), which was nicer still, but forget trying to find one of these.

Not possible. It's Zinc, not steel; cast, not pressed sheet metal; simplified to take a generic .22 action; and the visible features are almost all fake (as relates to the 'real' StG-44)... :(

There was a company in Germany (still is) that makes a real semi-auto version, steel, all functional, practically identical, even in 7.92 x 33...but you can't import it, and it cost $5,000+ some years ago...I have the URL somewhere, might even be in this thread... :rolleyes:

I finally broke down and got on one of these at a gun show a couple of days ago. It's a very nicely detailed replica, even though the non-working features and the "Schmeisser" logo are a bit annoying. I don't know if these will ever be collectible, but I couldn't resist the urge to take it out in the field and test fire it. I had the same problem as everybody else seems to have, the rifle shoots nice and straight but about 4"-5" low at 50 yards. The fix Sheepherder linked to looks like the slickest way to correct this, and it should be very easy to make a spacer. I might even make a few extra ones for those who like to shoot theirs.

The trigger pull is a bit heavy but also very crisp, the sights are excellent and the recoil is pretty much non-existent due to the weight of the gun, so it was easy to stay on target during rapid fire excercises. I had a couple of misfeeds, but overall it performed very well. I got it mostly for the looks, but I suspect that this one will be used a lot. :thumbup:

I've been fortunate enough to have a real MP43/1 and the new STG44. The comparisons are amazing. Very realistic and very heavy! If they would bring this out in 7.62x39, they would not be able to make them fast enough. :thumbup:

Apparently GSG had a prototype MP40 at this years Shot Show in 9mm caliber. They have submitted one/some to BATFE for their o.k. It will be offered, if approved, as a pistol sans stock, but if you get the SBR paperwork, they will sell you the folding stock. They are quoting a possible MSRP of $500. Might just be most interesting, to say the least.

Recently I've seen one for sale at the equivalent price of about USD 4600.00
If I'm not wrong these guns were made by Erfurter Machinefabrik in 1945
Erma total production was of about 104k of them.
This one has got the waffenamt mark WaW280
It's chambered 8 kurz (8x33)
These guns are not rare, as they had been used also by DDR VolksPolizei.
Unfortunately they are not my sort of gun.
