Second year at Purdue

1960 was the year I immigrated to this country from England. I visited the US consulate in London, had my fingerprints taken, and signed a document swearing that I did not intend to overthrow the US government or commit adultery. When I became a citizen a few years later, I again had to swear that I did not intend to commit adultery. It's nice to know that our border security doesn't just let anybody in. Regards, Norm

Hmmm......until February 28th, I wasn't anywhere!

Boy, I didn't realize we had so many old timers here :) , makes me feel young....I was only 3 in 1960...I don't think I had much interest in guns or cars at that time...most likely Captain Kangaroo and Mr. Green Jeans occupied my time.
Did Mr. Green Jeans really have green jeans ? I wouldn't know because we only had a B/W TV back then.

I owned 4 of the big Healeys back in the 70's...3 100/6's (like the one in the pic) and 1 3000...Had one set up for SCCA Class E in 1975; made it to the drivers school at Watkins Glen, lost oil pressure during the familiarization lap...Didn't have enough money to rebuild the engine AND race it, so traded it for a Yamaha DT1-B flat track motorcycle...Raced that for two years before admitting I would never be a winner... :D

The big Healeys were fun...Weak pressed sheet steel frames, though - rusted out pretty quick...The last one I owned, I fabricated a new frame for and put a Datsun 240Z engine & trans into...Plus TR6 steering & brakes... :)

My Dad had a 1960 MG A which was a rare car around Mexico City at that time. As kids, we used to love to sit in the passenger seat and hide under the tarp that would cover the entire car's interior with an opening for the driver only, which could be zipped shut.

I remember being stunned upon coming out one morning after an earthquake and seeing that most of the stucco lining of our carport's concrete ceiling had come down on the MG. I thought it had destroyed the car, but my Dad swept it all off, jumped in the car and headed for the office. It needed only buffing and polishing to bring it back to almost new again.

Oh boy, I'm a child here...
I asn't anywhere until... 14 years later.

At 18 1/2 years of age, I joined the U.S. Air Force on 2/25/60 and spent 3 1/2 years in missile maintenance. The last two in Germany, at Hahn Air Base. At 21 years of age, I had a 7 man crew and was crew chief for 10 nuclear missiles all set up to say hello to Mr. Khrushev.

I was about -16.
I loved Captain Kangaroo. My grandmother was close friends with Bob, or Mr. Captain Kangaroo.....I remember meeting him a few times when I was kid. Same with Fred Rogers, also a family friend.
