Please take a hard look of the "Crown B & Crown U" on the carbine.

They are not correct, and no matter how you shake it, they are still not correct.

I think I will stop looking at this gun now, as I do actually like them and I think I have gone far enough to make my point.

Vern, It's kind of sad to read your comments. I certainly feel if you could hold these pieces and take a good look, your comments would be different. The remarks about the C/B and C/U proofs are very vague and imply you know something that is just not there. These proofs matched perfectly with three other commercial early lugers when compared side by side. This set will be at the future Reno and Las Vegas shows. I humbly suggest that you consider a vacation to see these lugers in person. I'm sure, if you do, you will agree that the crests are NOT engraved, nor are there any other concerns about either of these beautiful lugers.

Here is the underside of the proofs on the 1906 'French' luger. It was next to impossible to photograch these faint proofs

So the barrel witness marks do not line up, or is that just the way the light affected the picture?

drbuster 03-20-2011 07:44 AM

Ron, keep in mind that Eric's photos are NOT of the two Fleur de Lys lugers depicted in the box above. They are a 1900 and 1902 carbine. Eric's photo is of a 1906 commercial. The witness marks aligned perfectly on the two lugers depicted in this thread.

Oops! Sorry - Thank you!

I must have taken over 20 pics inside and out. They have the cloudy affect but are exactly as shown in the book. Kenyan page 38 B U G German commercial receiver proof found on some 7.65 m/m, and 1906 commercial lugers. Thank You for your clarfiication! Merci Beaucoup...
