Some of you may have seen this holster in Auto Mag or on Jan's forum but thought I would post again just in case it might add a clue to someone. The maker looks like dtv and the acceptance is WaA279. A 41 BYF #1622Ku came in it. dave

Hi,

dtv translates as C. Otto Gehrckens, Leder- u. Riemenwerke, Pinneberg

Interestingly enough, Pinneberg lies centrally between the two German main ports of Bremen and Kiel.

In the meantime, I discovered another problem with the K¼stenfliegergruppe designation of K¼. It appears that in the time the guns were being produced (we agree upon the 1941-1945 timeframe), most if not all K¼stenfliegergruppen were renamed or disbanded.

K¼strin, btw, shows no sign of being a Luftwaffe depot area, as John D. pointed out. It has a small artillery garrison, primarily because it was a border town at the Oder, near Poland. Putting a part of the luftwaffe supply chain in K¼strin would be foolish, even for Adolf's idiots.

The town was split up after the war and the town centre was never rebuilt. Part of the town became Polish property (Kostrzyn nad Odr) and only a small part became a German village, in DDR land.

The town was fought over pretty fiercely in 1945 and almost completely destroyed.

I spoke to a long time Luger collector who told me that while he was in Germany. He came across a article about KU's in the magazine German Weapon Journal. Since his German wasnt to good he could not understand most of it. This magazine is still being published. I wonder if someone could contact the editor for more info.

Well, Just so happened I was finding myself fascinated by the KU Lugers, when my friend mentioned he has one that if memory served him, has a KU after the serial number. He Brought over the gun, and I had to snap pics. What made me scratch my head was, the "Black widow" grips/mag? Very possible this was done post war, but has anyone ever encountered a KU with these grips/mag?

According to Krieghoff Lugers (Gibson), he talked about the theory of KU's being associated with Kreighoff's (he did not beleive it), and he states wood or black plastic are found on KU's, just wood is more common.
