Hi Steve, while the data you gave me might generally be correct (byf 41, S/N 4558r), it should have Waffenamt Marks of double SE/655. This thread, however, is basically for G-Dates, made in 1935. But thanks for the thought!!

Randy, welcome to the Luger Forum. I appreciate the data, thanks!! :)

POSTED FOR FRANK:
First of all, I want to thank all those who contributed to the G-Date Data. This graph presents the results of all the data I have been able to garner over the past several months. Reviewing the data ranges, it is obvious that some acceptance marks have openings in the data range. I have tried my best to estimate the data, but there are some areas that are open for discussion. I will try to keep any new data I can get from any source and if I can provide a more complete graph in the future, I will. I obviously have the raw data that allowed me to make this graph. If anyone has the desire to review the raw data, please contact me and I'll be happy to provide the information! <a href="http://forums.lugerforum.com/lfupload/g_data_waffenamt_ranges.jpg" target="_fullview"><img src="http://forums.lugerforum.com/lfupload/g_data_waffenamt_ranges.jpg" width="400" alt="Click for fullsize image" /></a> |

Oliver, thanks for the data!! While I have published the results of the study, I will continue to accumulate data. :)
|
Frank,
May I suggest that you open an album for this purpose in the Member Gallery and post your graph there... and whenever you update the data, you can replace the graphic to show the latest results... |
Serial numer 6943d
e/63, 92, e I trust you will enjoy this presentation and the record of past American owners. http://forums.lugerforum.com/lfupload/gdateluger.jpg |
Mark, what a nice Luger. Also, nice paper trail - especially the William S. Ruger connection - WOW. I think you have a keeper and further it extends the upper range for that combination of marks. Thanks!!
|
I just looked at mine.

Hi Frank,
Here is my G date 8735c(it looks like a c) W154 and S 92 Matching mag with E/154. Hope this will help |
Frank,
My G date is 3514c and is W154 and S92. Mag doesn't match. Fits right in your graph. Tom |
Alfred and Tom, thanks much for the data. Even though your pistols fall nicely into the graphical results, the data is useful in making estimates for extending the data into the "gray" areas.
:) |
Here's a couple 3770a B90 S-91,and 1849c w154 s-92. Hope it helps.
|
Hi Danny, all data is most appreciated. The more data, the better the results. This is especially true for the range for each Waffenamt Mark.
|
Hate to be late Frank, but mine is 9599 "d". DE63 DE63 DE. Also looking for a matching magazine.
|
Hi Doc, it's never too late!! Thanks, I appreciate the data. Good luck with your magazine hunt!!
|
Hi Mark,
Just a minor point...but there is one more Owner in the string of ownership of your very nice G-date...you are not the 3rd. owner, but the 4th. owner. * Original German soldier * Major Brown * Lt. Rugar * Current owner (...you) Regards, Pete... <img border="0" alt="[typing]" title="" src="graemlins/yltype.gif" /> |
Please Pete, in purist terms, we are just the current caretakers of these historical gems. There will be caretakers after us, never owners.
|
Frank
I have a "G" code serial number 8452b Acceptance marks are W|154 and S-92 |
Thanks Greg! I appreciate your data!!

Glenn,
Being a new member, you wouldn't likely be aware of the fact that our good friend Frank Manders, who initiated this study, has passed away . I do not know if any of the other members had continued his study of 'G' date proof marks. Lyn |
Very sorry to hear that, my apologies.

Ed's graph doesn't show up here, so no idea what that indicates. :( If anyone is interested, here is what I got from this thread, keeping in mind that I have no idea what these marks mean... G-Date Waffenamt Marks Hi Guys, I [Frank Manders] am asking all with G-Dates for a little assistance. First we know there were about 55,000 of these little jewels made. There are six combinations of waffenamt marks, the most of any other Third Reich Luger. I have been compiling lists, trying to establish the serial number range for each set of marks. These marks are: B|90 and S-91 B|90 and S-92 W|154 and S-92 DE/211 and S-92 DE/63 and S-92 DE/63 and DE/63 Serial Waffenamt 8628 a W|154 - S-92 - Eagle 8752 d DE/63 - DE/63 - Eagle 7895C W154, S92 2154d E/211 S-92 3278d E/211 S-92 2508e de/63 de/63 808b w154 s92 6008e DE/63, DE/63, Eagle 1131-d 211 S|92 5745e two D/63's 70f DE63 DE63 Eagle 1504b W154 S92 Eagle 8846 b W154, S92 3000a B90/S91 6109a B90/S92 6035 f DE/63 DE/63 6032e DE/63 DE/63 8069d dw63 dw 63 1989f D/E63 & D/E63 6669c W-154 & S/92 5690d DE/63-S92 8304E DE/63 DE/63 6943d e/63, 92 7449c W154 S92 4548d DE/211 and S-92 8735c W154 and S 92 3514c W154 and S92 3770a B90 S-91 1849c w154 s-92 9599 "d" DE63 DE63 8452b W|154 and S-92 2589E DE/63 and DE/63 Again, I wish I knew more about 'G' date Mauser Lugers, but it's too late for me to learn. Maybe a dedicated 'G' date aficionado could carry Frank's work on... Edit: Snagged some from Still's site, may be some dupes... 4249a B90, S91 7466a W154, S92 8628a W154, S92 539b W154, S92 7622c W154, S92 943d DE/211, S92 2741d DE/211, S92 3176d DE/211, S92 4003d DE/211, S92 4437d DE/211, S92 200e DE/63, DE/63 3823e DE/63, DE/63 2043f DE/63, DE/63 2927f DE/63, DE/63 9236b W154 - S92 2971e DE63 DE63 5102aB|90 & S-91 4190a B90 S91 7211a W154 S92 735b W154 S92 3705e DE63 DE63 9491e DE63 DE63 1689f DE63 DE63 2736c W154 S92 8096d DE/63--DE63 9602e DE/63--DE63 4991e DE/63 DE/63 7328c W154 S92 |
I have heard that all his paperwork and research was put into someones hands.
No idea who or whom - I'd love for it to be forwarded to me, I'd scan it all in and send it back. |

Perhaps G.T. would know who was the beneficiary of Frank Mander's database information? I will PM him to find out... They lived in close proximity to each other... I was blessed to have to opportunity to have lunch with Frank the last I was in Phoenix... He is sorely missed here.
