Its been wild weather here, much warmer than usual and then cold as. Well cold :)

For some reason the wife and neighbors object to shooting in the backyard??

cirelaw 01-11-2016 09:17 PM

Ok, I finally went and shot my carbine. first it was conflicting schedules and then I was sick as heck, then my son (he caught my very nasty cold), and this afternoon it was 23 degrees, but I said the heck with it :)

One failure to feed, and it was a hollow point, the other 6 rounds (HP) fed fine, plus 5 magazines of Federal FMJ.

Very pleased! Also shot 3 mags through my GT Special !!

cirelaw 01-13-2016 06:47 PM

You lost its' virginity at last! How did the stock feel? I am really excited for you my friend!!!! Eric

Eric, really excellent, and I have only shot a couple of carbines. The stock had loosened up a bit, my fault, I had not put it into the correct place. Boy, it was more accurate than I am. I was popping off small targets that I could not hit with my pistol, easily

cirelaw 01-13-2016 07:13 PM

It seem although the same round in a carbine it seems allot more powerful and accurate! How were the sights? Any plans for a sling! I bought from Jerry many years ago~

lugerholsterrepair 01-13-2016 09:24 PM

YES! All carbines need a sling! A nice leather one...I wonder where one could be found?

I had forgotten about a sling :)

Let me call in the next day or so, I need to figure out what to do

lugerholsterrepair 01-13-2016 09:41 PM

Let me call in the next day or so, I need to figure out what to do? what to do?what to do? I can promise you it will not take 2.7 years to get a beautiful leather Carbine sling with studs, adjustment buckle and hand sewn keepers. HAHA!

Was very happy to hear your wonderful Carbine shoots so well. That's good to hear.

True indeed! K98 slings are on eBay & GB every day, plus some very nice looking repros from India.

DonVoigt 01-14-2016 12:12 AM

Two leather bootlaces will suffice till Jerry can fix you up!

Happy for you that it shot well!

This is an original carbine sling Jerry found for me over ten years ago. I could never use it due to its present condition but I wanted it to be complete. I'm sure Jerry can find or make you one perfect~ Eric

Why would Ed want an old oily, gnarled, worn sling for his brand spanking new carbine, when the Indian/Pakistani repros are nice & new and clean and untouched...

I'm waiting for Ed to post pics of his carbine backstrap, where the buttstock iron has already scratched away the bluing... :D

(Don't ask me how I know)... :(

cirelaw 01-14-2016 02:32 PM

Correction. I never offered Ed my "old oily gnarled for his brand new carbine"as an original that Jerry sold me ten years ago. It wasn't to be used but is a legit sample. Further indicated Jerry could deliver perfect substitute!~~Eric

rhuff 01-14-2016 03:39 PM

Ed'

So glad to hear that your new carbine is a reliable shooter, accurate, and that you are pleased with it. I will bet that for a short while, you forgot about the cold weather, and had a "silly smile" on your face!! If that carbine will feed HP ammo, then you really have a good one. Congrats!!

K.Wilhelm 01-27-2016 11:38 AM

Luger carbine

Ed- simply breathtaking! Glad it all worked out so well for you in the end. Unfortunately I don't have your kind of patience. Bill

cirelaw 02-05-2016 11:35 AM

Eds' carbine is finished, beautiful and hanging on his wall. Lets move on! Eric

RichSr 02-05-2016 04:13 PM

Lighten Up Eric, some of us here appreciate a good sense of humor. I very much doubt Ed has it "hanging" on his wall though.

Its on it, just wanted to show the un-cropped picture :)

cirelaw 02-07-2016 12:02 AM

Ed, wonderful!! You taught us all that patience is a well valued virtue! Thank You my friend!

kurusu 02-07-2016 10:29 AM

Ed,

I'm sure glad that your patience paid of.

DonVoigt 02-11-2016 05:43 PM

Ed,
really nice. For those of us interested in the "innards", could you show a picture with the
forearm removed? Please.

What is the diameter of the barrel at the muzzle?

Does it balance well?

I'll bet it shoots really softly.

lugerholsterrepair 02-11-2016 09:01 PM

could you show a picture with the
forearm removed? Excellent idea! While you are dismanteling the forearm..take out one of those very irritating brass screws and send it to me.

CAP Black 02-11-2016 11:02 PM

Jerry:

I could use a couple of those new replacement screws for my carbine.
thanks
Jack

cirelaw 02-11-2016 11:17 PM

What screws are we talking about?

lugerholsterrepair 02-12-2016 12:15 AM

Jack, Eric, They are the screws in the brass oval of the forearm..On Ed's carbine they are brass and look bad..I am trying to find out their size..Now I need the diameter of the flat head and the length..the diameter of the shaft would be nice too..These screws will not be threaded all the way but will have a short blanc shaft. They must be a good steel and fire blued...All of which I could get IF I knew the size!
I would easily get this off of my own carbine but it is a thousand miles away...
