Eric, you are getting things mixed up. Whatever Krieghoff did, has nothing to do with what Mauser or Mauser under French control did. 2 different companies, 2 completely different ways of doing things.

The star marking on a Krieghoff frame is a 'commercial' / military rejection marking.
The star marking on the Mauser pistols after april, 1945 is a proof marking.

With regard to the RIA auction, I tracked 11 pre-WWI - 1918 Lugers in the catalog.

Of the 11 here are the hammer prices with respect to the RIA estimate:

under: 4
within: 4
over: 1

and 2 with "Lot Sold" but no "Price Realized". :eek:

I called RIA about phenomenon where a lot sells but there is no realized price.

I was told lots listed as "Lot Sold" with no "Price Realized" meant there was a problem with the winner, the consignor, or the item.

Since one of these 2 lots was a lot I was outbid on, I am interested in finding out if the item is available to purchase.
RIA took my name etc and said they would notify the seller.

Anyone have any thoughts about this?

Dealing with that many and buyers, sellers and post sale follow up they manage well! I have observed their auctions for many years. They were always there to answer my inquiries. Under the circumstance they are professional otherwise they would have out of business many years ago. Years ago they addressed my concern regarding a 1902 Fat Barrel and got right back. Their photography is always good. How do you think then can improve? I'm sure they would appreciate you views!! What most important you get to see how much a particular firearm sells for post auction! Much better than any blue book or reference as you have a pulse a real value in real time. Most important they give you a range and of the time the sales.Most fall within those estimates~These descriptions, sales and estimates are free to all and you can research past sale and future estimates. Your a better man then I. I got nervous playing Bingo with grannies in the rehab hospital. Good Luck ! Eric

Their "promise" to transmit my "willingness to purchase" to the owner of the good was deceptive.

They do not benefit by facilitating a transfer of goods outside of the context of an auction...no matter what all your secretaries say...:thumbup:
