Saab called that program European Delivery. I was set up to go to Sweden and buy a new Saab Turbo in 1987 for my honeymoon. Month before wedding mom and my fiancé had a huge fight and we broke up. So I took my dad. I had the best trip of my life.Instead of going shopping,we went to gun and car museums. Drove for hours at 125 MPH on the Autobahn. We found the gals in Sweden and Germany, where VERY friendly. Good times! All turned out well, have been married for 26 years now, to a great wife. Bob |

One of mine was in Copenhagen and we too visited a military museum there and that was one helleva museum, it was located in an old cavalry barracks. Tivoli Gardens was nice too. I liked the dutch girls.....the german girls were a bit too hairy for me.:nono: (What happened to my 'puke' smiley?) |
Does anyone own a motorcycle??

We went to the Royal Danish Arsenal museum as well. Guns as far as the eye could see! It was nirvana! I hear lately they have taken off display all guns that can use commercially available ammo. So sad! Eric I have 2 motorcycles right now. 1966 Triumph TR6 and a 1972 250 OSSA Explorer. Both are runners. Bob |

My first car was a '59 Chevy Bel Air almost identical to this one. Mine was a shade or so lighter (Coral) and had chrome rims with inside Baby Moons and Red-Line Tiger Paws.
Had a 283 ci punched out to 309 ci with an AFB. It sucked gas so fast you could watch the needle move. Still got my last car... '01 Road King Classic.. |

Yes, a '59 Borgward Isabella. I bought it for a hundred bucks from the man who was to become my father-in-law for 10 years. They had owned a Goliath before that. Sold by the local Cadillac dealer. I could coax the 60 screamin' horses of the 1500cc motor to chirp the tires, going into second gear. The 4-speed tranny's shift lever was indeed mounted on the steering column (like the Benz's)--sort of in the middle between "Three on the tree" and "Four on the floor", and it didn't rhyme.
I had occasion to go to Phoenix a few years back, and on a side trip to Payson, I encountered a place called "All Bikes", a few acres within a chain link fence with rows and rows and rows of bicycles and motorcycles...stacks, even. Parked in front of one of the buildings, fairly permanently, a Borgward Isabella 2-seater coupe... Before I got yelled at by the owner for doing so, I opened the driver's door and took a sniff--nothing brings back memories like smell--and it was just like mine, to the nose! The proprietor, who came off to me as kind of a big jerk, claimed to have started out in California, working with George Barris, who designed and built the Dragula and the Musnter coach, in the 60's. OK, you got me going now. After a '60 Mercedes 220SB that I traded the Borgward for, even up (My service station-owning friend said it was the only deal he knew of where BOTH parties got screwed!), a '62 Rambler 4-door (front seats reclined to create a double bed!), and a '65 T-bird 2-door hard top (a gas guzzling behemoth in this vintage) I bought the '64/5 Volvo P-1800. I generally loved them all, but this was my fave. Once again, a pic from the net, and I'd installed fog/driving lights, but trim and color same as mine. /reminiscence D.P. |

My first was a little minibike with a Briggs and Stratton engine on it. |
My Niece had a completely restored '67 or '68 (?) Shelby GT 500 Mustang Fastback. She was visiting a friend, and developer was shoring up a road to his high end housing development on the hill across from her friend's house.
A huge boulder broke loose, rolled down the hill, across her friends front yard, and dead centered the right side of her Mustang, totalling it out. If her car hadn't been there the boulder would have gone directly through the living room where they were sitting. Kind of one of those damned if you do, damned if you don't instances... |

I think because it wasn't seen before it had such impact. My favorite is when he is retuning to the cell he gets his glove a ball back bouncing away the time! He always seemed to be very independant!

I had a '75 CT90 K6. Loved, LOVED that bike. It was like a 2 wheel truck with that granny low when in low range. Built me a little gooseneck cargo trailer in HS metal shop to tow behind it. Hitch was in the middle of the cargo rack. The electrical system was too weak kneed to add trailer lights, so I rigged up a plug scheme that would disconnect the rear lights of the bike when the trailer was plugged in. A loopback plug restored light functionality to the bike when not towing.
Neighbor kid had a CT70, and a pair of ST90s. The ST90 was like a large CT70 - same looks, but bigger, 3 speed tranny, etc. |

My first car was a 1981 Toyota wagon. Bought as a used car from a friend, $800, mileage was not high when I bought it, less than 60k miles on the meter. Soon, I found it had an annoying issue -- very frequently, it could not be started by key. Need one person to push it to start the engine, so I usually had to find a hill to park it :) If no hill (well, not always lucky),,,, pushing a 2000-lb wagon around the parking lot was not light labor.

I agree! My '75 CB750 freshly restored. I have several other bikes and a '67 Mustang that will never get finished. My first car was a '65 Mustang coupe I got in 1979. 200 six with a 3spd. Slow enough to be safe. :) |
I'm really enjoying this thread, thanks Eric!

Will post my other bikes tomorrow. The photos are in my desktop at work! :(

http://img.timeinc.net/time/2007/50_...t_dauphine.jpg with its stick-shift, it could do 0-60 mph in about 8 hours. not much of a chick magnet, but it got me back and forth to school. |

Here's two of the five I have now [1st pic]...1972 Honda CL450 Scrambler, and a 1971 Honda CB500 Four...
450 being torn down for the Winter; 500 under long-term restoration...There's three more Honda 550 Fours torn down for parts (if anyone needs any)... The second pic is the 450, the 'daily rider'... The 450 is the most evil handling motorcycle I've ever owned...Out of Harleys, Hondas, Yamahas, Nortons, BSA's, Triumphs, and one Bridgestone... |

Trucking along about 65.Nice:burnout: Don't think I have ever shown off my OSSA.Pretty cool old bike. 1400 original miles. Bought new. The Japanese bikes are great, but they sure ran almost everybody else out of business! Sad:( Bob |

here is the only picture of my first car. A 1966 mustang, after I crashed it in front of my parents house cutting school back when I was in 11th grade. There was a dirt road next to there house. I come out that road sideways and as soon as the car hit that asphalt it took an immediate right. Right in to a tree next to my parents mailbox. I wiped out the mailbox and totaled the car. I don't think I ever even let off the gas. Needless to say I got caught cutting school and had to replace their mailbox. As for the car, I got my dads truck and put a chain on it a drug it into the yard and canceled the insurance. Didn't get another car until half way through 12th grade which was another mustang. A 65 this time and I didn't wreck that one.
I never got a chance to take a picture of the 66 mustang before I crashed it. This was the only picture I ever had of it. I ran across it back during Xmas and was amazed it was still around. Good Times!! Attachment 35700 Attachment 35701 |

Two motorcycles. A 750 Shadow Aero and a Harley 1200 Sportster. Ride every chance I get. Bill |
Hey Bill,
A friend I ride with had a 1200 Sportster. It was a quick bike, and handled like a dream. He sold it and bought a Dyna Low Rider, right after I got my Road King. I bought a basket case '73 Kawasaki 650 Mach III from a guy I worked with in about 1982 or 83. After I got it fixed and put together, it was the nastiest bike I've ever been on. If you gave it too much throttle coming out of a left hand turn, it would high-side you right into an immediate right hand turn, whether you want to make one or not. It also had a habit of stripping kick starter splines, as well as a tendency to kick-back and launch you off of it, and / or leave a groove on the inside of your ankle and leg, but Man, was it fast... when it wasn't trying to maim or kill you. |
