Yes I wouldnt file off the tip of the front sight. Maybe it was designed to stand out above the rear sight, I have never seen any historical sight alignment template like the ones you have in manuals of modern firearms or NRC training material. Does anybody know if there are any historical instructions as to how to to get a proper sight alignment?

The teapot stance is something I havent really tried except in dry practice but even then I find that the difficult part is to keep the gun steady for a longer period because you hold the weight with only one hand instead of two thats probably the main weakness. It would be interesting to do some competitive testing of this stance against one of the more modern ones, both for slow shooting and combat shooting
