I use the 2nd option. I used to use the main page, but then always opened it into the 2nd page on its own window, wider view, more to see was the reason...

Me too, I always use forum.luger forum to get here, that black toolbar on the left covers too much territory.
|
Likewise, I use the second option.

Hi John D.,
I use the 1st. entry point you listed... |
Hey guys,
Thanks for the feedback - and especially Dwight how has sent me updates via e-mail throughout the day!!! OK- I tried to map the times Dwight sent me and others had posted against the circuit stats..?? The outcome..?? While this is a shared circuit between this forum, the P 38 Forum and one of the Porsche servers I host - I don't see anything abnormal - or would cause the outage?? OK - tomorrow - I'm swapping out the router and try a fresh one. When it's installed - I'll post back here, and we'll try this again.. In the meantime - Thank You to all who have kept this thread updated - and especially Dwight who has kept me updated throughout the day...! Best to all - and thanks! John |
I open the forum using the rogues gallery page.
|
OK guys,
I just replaced the router with a new one.. Can you tell me if the "time outs" are still occuring for you?? (Also - Ed T. - tried to call you back last evening..? Can you send me a phone #? Maybe I'm calling the wrong one, or - you know it's me, and not answering - which is more likely ;) ) Heh! John D. |
PM sent
|
John D., I had a time-out trying to send a message reply just a few minutes ago! Had to refresh twice before the forum came back up... and the message was posted.
|
Sorry JS..
That was me - I was trying to make sense out of a "rat's nest of wires" that are plugged into the routers.... :) :) Thanks! JD |
John, I just spent some time clicking around on various topics, no hangups, it just might be working again.
|
John D.,
Whatever you did, it seems to be working slicker than cow slobbers on a glass doorknob now. Thanks |
WOW faster than a speeding bullet, made it thru without a hiccup, thanx John.
|
Thanks All..!!
I'll keep watching the performace from my end - but Thank you for your input in trying to track down this gremlin... ;) Best to you - and thanks again..!!! BTW: Ron - "cow slobbers on a glass doorknob" had me ROTF..!! :D That must be pretty danged slick.. ;) John D. |
I knew I couldn't top it with a wittyism, so didn't try :D
working slick, slick as a slick guy on a slick fire-pole, uh, yah, :roflmao: |

But, my guess is that he put in a different router, which 'talked' differntly to the server and vice-versa, I believe it started acting up when John "improved" it with new circuits and a new router a couple of months ago. Sometimes the darn things just don't interface well. Either that or he gave the squirrels that supply the power more Mountain Dew for energy :D:roflmao::D |
Ed, does that remind you of the Army? If it ain't broke fix it till it is!

Seriously - here is an overview of what I did - less the detail..... - Split the IP across two NICs to see if one was failing (using a virtual IP).. As that seemed to help, I left them.... - Added 1GB of memory to the server (hence the two re-boots)... - Reworked the MySQL Database to optimize queries against average loads; - Installed two new Routers - one upline from the two NICs, and the second to interface with the CSU/DSU (Channel Service Unit/Data Service Unit) using Full Duplex mode on a 1GB Fiber NIC; - Reprogrammed the webserver configuration file - changing time-outs, bind address(es) and the number of servers started per session... HTH!!! John D. |
what about the squirrels?
I was sure that I was right about dem angimals:roflmao: |

Well, its been three days now, working flawlessly and fast. I've have even almost lost the 'flinch' I developed every time I clicked on a forum.
Thanks John D! --Dwight |
Old symptoms from a few weeks back seem to be back...
I get lots of "action cancelled" messages when trying to move from one page to the next. Page loading is at snail-pace again... |
it seems to "stall" John.... just doesn't load a page...
