Shipped out Ted Stefani's 1938 S/42 Luger and Roadkill's 1918 Erfurt Luger.

Thor: You're teasing me, aren't you. Harry
|
We still need to resolve some things with your gun Harry. Tom Heller has a replacement toggle, you need a new firing pin and the main spring issue is unresolved. Both of these Lugers that I sent out today were ahead of yours in line.

Roadkill's Luger was delivered this morning to the gunshop he had sent it through! Cant wait to hear how he likes it!

Alright, gentlemen. I'm going to try to put this in the right perspective but don't know if I really can. When I was eighteen I rode aross the border from Vietnam to Cambodia behind a .50 cal machine gun on a tank. That was exciting. When I was 21 I got hit by lightning, that was exciting.
When I was 23 I hitched across Europe with a stunningly beautiful German girl (now my wife). That was real exciting :D . When I was 40 I got in a shoot out with some idiots out in the country who thought an old man on a bicycle would be fun to mess with. That was exciting. When I was 45 I got attacked by a red tail hawk on my bicycle out in the country. Exciting. Three years ago I was run over by a Humvee that crushed my chest. That was exciting. But the only time I ever have been speechless is when I opened the box and got my Luger back. I have always admired Lugers but never could imagine one could look that good. At first I thought Ted made a terrible mistake and sent me the wrong one. The bluing is flawless, the strawing perfect, and the combination of the fire blued parts set it off in a package that is simply outstanding. Thank you Ted. Thanks for the attention to historical detail for a deserving item of military and firearms history. Gentlemen, this was a 1918 nonmatching Erfurt. You ought to see it now. rk |
hehehehe!! I just love posts like that! Now I am almost speechless! Thanks RK!
|
RK, I haven't had all those exciting happenings, but I do have several of Thor's handy works. It's really difficult to imagine sending him pieces of pitted metal and have it returned in superb condition. His pistols always get wild raves every time I take them to the range!!
I have one more in Thor's pile as soon as good ole Hugh finishes my "Baby". |
RK, you are going to have to find a way to post photos or scans of Thor's latest work...PLEASE.
|
Glenn, just take regular pictures and send them to me at my house :)
Or I'll send you my C&R, and send you an old Mosin Rifle for "safekeeping" for a year or so... Ed |
I'm back down at lovely old quaint scenic historical (hot humid mosquito ridden, snake infested, tick filled, dank, dilapidated) what once was Fort McClellan Al., no access to anything here but more of the latter but there is a beer store close by and I shall survive. When I get back I'll try to get some pictures up, we have a $400+ digital camera in the office I never took the time to learn how to use, too many smart kids around for me to mess with it. I'm doing the CQ deal down here again, on from 1800 to 0600, have 140 kids to keep in bed, been telling them ghost stories about cottonmouths coming out of the woods all around and sometimes into the barracks late at night, if ya'll think I can BS here you ought to hear me with a barracks bay full of 15-16 year olds late at night. Tonight will be about Jepediah Henderson, he's a axe toting mentally challenged institution escapee looking for his brother who was drafted in 52' but killed in an accident at McClellan and Jepediah is going to kill the DI who did it. He doesn't see well in the dark though. Well, gotta go, duty calls.
Later Ya'll rk |
Roadkill! Some words of wisdom..... make sure you tell those stories at the bottom of a hill, or only when camping in a valley... as an old scout leader, I found that kids are a lot less likely to injure themselves trying to run uphill when scared to their wits end! Too much speed going downhill! till...later...GT <img border="0" alt="[jumper]" title="" src="graemlins/jumper.gif" />

I got my 1917 back from Thor yesterday, I'll never cease to be amazed at how good he can make an old pistol look! The pistol I just got back is the last candidate I had for restoration in my safe. Guess I'll just have to shoot and enjoy the ones I have for a while.
Thanks Ted for another wonderful looking piece. |
