I agree with Ron that the holster is probably for a 4 3/4" barrel Luger, and I observe that the fastening strap has been replaced which is not a big deal. A fine condition pistol and a great buy.
Well done, Albert |
It's a shame that the holster isn't marked. The skill and quality of manufacture is evident in every picture. To enclose the "D-Ring" buckle in leather so neatly takes real craftsmanship. A beautiful holster to go with an outstanding pistol.

Herb, sorry, I had forgotten about your excellent holster in the Member Gallery. I had some very good luck when I started out collecting. I think that fortune smiles on the neophyte every now and then just to keep the hobby going.
In addition to the replaced fastening strap, it appears that the one belt loop has been resewn as well. Perhaps Jerry Burney could render judgement on this. A stunning holster non-the-less and one that would be a fine addition to any early Luger collection. |
Great observations wow. The strap was indeed reattached or replaced. Anyone have ideas regarding the meaning of the writing on the inside of the holster, "F-3138â??
I'm meeting with veteran I purchased the pistol from early next month and will ask him some more detailed questions regarding the pistol. Also, was this typically the holster that was supplied with 1914 commercial Lugers? http://forums.lugerforum.com/lfupload/IALGER51.jpg http://forums.lugerforum.com/lfupload/IALGER50.jpg http://forums.lugerforum.com/lfupload/IALGER52.jpg |
Commercial Lugers were not "supplied" with a holster. Just as when you buy handguns today, they do not come with a holster, you have to buy one of your choosing seperately. Dealers may have made up a "package deal" including a holster and tools to accompany the Luger, but DWM did not produce holsters.

I need some help. I have a commercial DWM luger and I would like to know the manufacturing year of it. In the "all 08 military lugers" section under the name "What is this" are some pics of it. I would be very glad if someone regonizes it and answers to me.
