Last week at a gun show, I had a guy tell me that my Luger was a Simpson-Suhl reworked gun from 1934. And it probably was a bring back from WWII.
Whats the forum think?? A load of crap!!! or could there be some merit to his comments. The guy told me he had been a collector for 20 years, and he could tell from the markings on the bottom of the barrel that it was a Simpson-Suhl rework from 1934. This would explain alot. 1. No serial # on the mag and only armourers mark, on mag. 2. Reblued job 3. all mismatched. "made up out of reworked parts." 4. No import marks. 5. Rebarreld with no serial on barrel. So my question is could this be true. and what does a guy look for in markings, that will tell him that a gun had gone thru some German rework program???? |
Anything is possible, but the Simson's I have seen have many Simson proofs, from the Tech pages on the left, here are 3 different sets of proofs and markings commonally found on guns reworked by Simson:
