AGE,

Give me a heads up when you pass through Savannah. I've sent contact info via private e-mail. KFS

This has been a very interesting topic, and I, for one, appreciate the civility and the forthcoming-ness of the parties involved in the interest of advancing the discussion.

I dont yet own a Luger, so I am wondering how a person actually goes about finding one and what to look for in your first purchase.
I fired one as a child in the 60's and fell in love, now I have the money and dont know what to get as a start.
Please, dont tell me a collectable is the place to start, I love to shoot to much to see a gun in a box.
But all opinions and help are appreciated by me. <img src="graemlins/icon107.gif" border="0" alt="[icon107]" />

Hello Clayton, glad to have you at the forum.

There are literally tons of places to look for a shootable Luger.

One of the East German ones would be a good place to start, as would just a mismatched pistol. Auction places are not the best places on the net for a beginner, although you might get a really good deal.

If you came through www.lugerforum.com look on the left is a Links and Resources, as well as a Classifieds section. Tom Heller usually has a few shootable Lugers, I bought one from him and have been very happy, but there are lots of places to look. Gun shows, pawn shops etc., although many do not know the difference between a collectable and a shooter and will sell you a shooter for a collectable price.
