In addition to the standard PO8s @$39.95 Ye olde Hunter (Interarms) would sell you a nice original holster for $5. So had I been clarvoilent in 1960, I could have purchased 200 holsters for $1000. So at $100 each today, would be at least $20K, a nice investment. TH

It is fun to dream.....with what is happening this week, that opportunity window may be closing forever...plan accordingly......

1964 went on vacation to D.C. and surrounding areas. Mom and I made it a point to visit Ye Old Hunter in Alexandria to see these $39.95 Lugers. Most all were mismatched, re-blued rats at that price. They must have had 200 of them. After hitting a couple gun stores, found a 1917 DWM rig for 75 bucks in Wheaton, Md. I was not even 18 yet.

Christmas 1969

It's great to read the member's stories from back then, thank you.

For example-as a kid back then I wondered what sort of Luger you got from the Interarms ads.

I'll attach a photo from Christmas 1969 and relate a bit of my story.

My brother has a ubiquitous Mossberg 500, I probably have a 1939 42 code pistol.

The Ford 7 Litre in back belonged to Chuck Musil, a veteran who drove the Red Ball Express and had for some time been a licensed gun dealer, going to gun shows.

We bought our first and several other Lugers from him, became friends and then my brother and I would help him out at gun shows. He got a bit miffed at my wanting to look at every Luger someone offered-he bought one without showing me first-an Erfurt Artillery but-as I instantly noticed-the stock lug had been ground off.

I recall nice P38s for $90, 1911s for $125.

Just before the 68 GCA came in force I got a 41 BYF, minty, for $110 at a show in Cheyenne. Wanting a Black Widow, Chuck gave me some authentic grips and I made a Black Widow. (Luger criminal!)

Zoom ahead 51 years and by chance in a couple of days I will pick up a Luger that must have been in build during Christmas of 1969-one of the 60 Pilot model Mauser Parabellums-one of 40 sent Interams in January, 1970.

Lots of guns have passed through my hands, I only miss the people who have been lost over the years.

Happy Holidays, Joe

Tiapat,

Funny that my Dad bought my older brother and me our first surplus M98 Mausers, for $35.00 each, at that exact location in 1967.

Several months before he had purchased a brand new Walther P-38 there for $120.00.

I last visited that shop in 1991. Great place to purchase Interarms weapons at that time.

Also, great place for an 11 year old, interested in firearms, to hang out!
