Pretty much anything up to 1945. And SIG P210s, of course. For shooting, I prefer SIG Sauer P226 and P220. They're hard to beat.

I like early German revolvers as well as Lugers.

Here is a 9mm Single Action / Double Action German Police revolver. These are described in the Horst Friedrich book, "Dienstwaffen der deutschen Polizei und Gendarmerie, Historie, Technik, Kennzeichnung" in Chapter 9. My recently acquired example is similar to the Bavarian Gendarmerie and Berlin Type examples shown in his book.


This six shot "Polizei Revolver" has a case hardened frame with the octagon shaped barrel, fluted cylinder, trigger group assembly and hammer nicely fire blued. The black ebony grips are finely checkered and the butt plate has a lanyard ring as is normal for these revolvers. There is a safety lever on the left side of the frame and the top strap is engraved with "Polizei Revolver". This revolver has Belgian proof marks and was made by Jean-Baptiste Ronge in Liege for the German market around 1894. Ronge also made special order police pistols for the "English Constabulary" and the "French Gendarmerie" with the appropriate markings. The unmarked generic German made revolver holster can fit a S&W M&P with a 4" barrel or this pistol.

My Browning High Power and Ruger .22 Bull Barrel are the ones I use the most.

I also have an old H&R nine shot .22 I'm pretty fond of.

I mostly like WW II era autos and rifles but also have a brace of Walker black powder and other more modern pistols. Just NO plastic guns. And prefer autos with a thumb safety, external hammer, no grip safety, single-double action, and NOT striker fire, but make an exception for the Luger and like a stock capability. I was like most and REALLY wanted a PPK - the 007 gun. But when I bought an HK Mod 4, with ALL FOUR multiple barrel-mag setups, I no longer wanted a PPK. The Mod-4 is sooooo much better and capable, I got spoiled. The only drawback is it has an alloy frame, another one of my dislikes. I like steel, preferably INOX. I think if HK would bring back the model, it would be an instant sell out. The used market is soaring. I bought mine when Germany (Bund BZV) surplused them for a VERY GOOD price in Shotgun News from a friend who worked AZORIAN.

Here is a part of my collection. I could not fit any more on the pool table and keep it looking neat. I have others, but as you can see my taste varies. I am currently on a WWII weapons kick and I have a 1911, Luger and Garand added to the colection.

Ruger Old Army revolvers are one of my "kicks" along with Remington XP-100s and Remington 51 pocket pistols.
Hunting pistols, in general, turn me on.

Very impressive group of P38's!

Here is that rifle for my Granddaughter finished. It is smaller than it looks with a 28 1/2 inch barrel and only 43 inches overall

Next to the Luger, my favorite in center fire is the HK P30. I wanted another 9mm for recreation, and after some research selected this pistol as I consider it sort of a worthy spiritual descendant of the Parabellum:

Hard to describe but it gives off a similar feeling of quality and precision as a Luger. And the grip is customizable.
