Definitely not Nazi grips, most likely a post-war addition by a GI.
So are the grips that are numbered to the gun with or without embellishment?
If the numbered grips are not mod'ed and in good shape I'd guess around $1600-$1800.

this is a later 1937 correct? with the lesser value finish? vs the one on GB with the earlier, more desirable finish and strawed

battering ram 12-13-2017 03:15 PM

numbered grip are not modified

Asking is $2200

DavidJayUden 12-13-2017 04:07 PM

Your decision, but $2200 seems too high to me.
To me it's just a Plain Jane with a matching mag.

tomorrow night the auction ends...im in the lead...i put in a healthy bid, but think this one is going to end high

anyone want to predict the winning price?

im going to say $2,800

every time ive bid on popular guns w/ nice pics the bids always go over market value

DavidJayUden 12-18-2017 12:55 AM

$2200 bought it. Anyone here?

Norme, you don’t mind the double stamped four?

When did they start salt bluing, and halo not being on barrel?

battering ram 12-18-2017 11:04 AM

yes i did...i had bid $2200 originally and upped it to $2317 at the last bit....i did not want to lose this gun....i think i got a good deal at this price...im very green when it comes to lugers, but all the research i was able to do quickly showed me this was a $2,800 gun....but once again---i have not even read a book, just looking at previous auctions and what i could find on line...no deep knowledge here...

In my opinion, it's easily a $3000 Luger.

DavidJayUden 12-18-2017 11:24 AM

Just an FYI, as you don't know folks, but Geo's estimation is one you can go to the bank with.

I thought that is a bit high, but Geo would say and probably right, I can be a bit cheap... Not as cheap as Don V :D

in 27 years of shooting ive only broken 1 gun ever...and i shoot 2x a month....it was recently- my grandfathers Remington a5 1949...i inherited it and dry fired it...the trigger spring broke...$10 part

im going to hope for the best....and i will feel bad for history if it does break more than the $$ loss...i dont collect guns as art.....i collect them as functional art....

to each their own and i do respect your opinion on the matter......to some lugers is a religion....i get it

correct take down tool

what would the correct take down tool be for my gun? does anyone have a spare for sale?

thanks

plunkster 12-21-2017 11:29 PM

You don't need a take down tool with a Luger. There are a few YouTube videos about it, but it is extremely simple, especially considering it was invented over 100 years ago! Not quite as quick as a Glock takedown, but almost! Have fun - I was just out shooting my Simson earlier this week...

tharpo 12-21-2017 11:55 PM

If you meant, what is the correct magazine loading tool then a DE/63 would be good.

battering ram 12-22-2017 03:18 PM

anyone have one for sale or know of one?

thanks

George Anderson 12-22-2017 03:31 PM

I have two. $70 each.
