In a Luger pistol I 'd rather call it barrel extension. But I'll also accept receiver.

This thread needs to be rebooted... :D

Technically the luger barrel extention is also the receiver, since it's the part that contains the sear. TH

I distinguish them this way:

- if the barrel screws into it, it is a receiver; i.e. "receives" the barrel

- if integral with the barrel, it is a barrel extension.

Thus the Luger has a receiver, and the Mauser broom handle as made has a barrel extension.
The AR platform has both an upper receiver and a lower receiver, just to keep things interesting.

And a frame can also be a receiver; but a Luger frame is not a receiver, the Mauser frame is also a receiver; but, in most revolvers the frame is the receiver. Confusing enough for me! ;)

Unlike the people who respond to these inane remarks??? :p

I like to think of us as sitting around the ol' pickle barrel, chawin' terbacky, whittlin' pieces of kindling, discussin' the more esoteric problems of the day... :D

For a M1 garand, it's not a clip nor a magazine! It's an enbloc! 8-)

Sometimes during a Luger extractor replacement, the checking of movement with a dummy case is overlooked. The smallish coil spring will compress to a final amount, if it does before the extractor nose is over the rim, the extractor takes the grief of the situation. Sometimes the replacement spring's full compress height is not correct; parts is not always parts sorta speak, requires checking for longevity.

I think the extractor movement should always have a little movement above the rim, otherwise, things are stressed; and extractors are getting more expensive.

Oh, it is a clip for sure; an "enblock" clip as opposed to a "stripper" clip.
