For ****s and grins I took apart the old side plate and checked for fitting with the pin and the trigger lever on my 82 marked plate. The lever fits great, the pin is just a shade bigger in diameter than the hole. Should I try another trigger lever pin or let the smith fit this pin to the new plate? Seems odd that the pin is a slightly different diameter. The 82 marked plate fits the frame fine without the internals. Just a tiny bit of rattle and I am guessing that it is because there is no trigger lever inside. |
The side plate should not move(no rattle) with it installed and the TD lever in the up position; with or without the lever and pin.
The TD lever stem actually cams the plate to the rear(not "in") into a tight fit to the frame when fitted correctly; of course the arm of the lever holds in in or down by pressing against the tab. Did the #82 not come with a lever and pin? |

Fitting normally requires removal of material because of a tight fit; it it is too loose, then that is a different problem.
Does you #82 have numbers on the inside like we talked about and showed above? |
