Ron

If your count is 383, it was my understanding that Mr.Bannerman purchased the entire lot of the ones that were returned from service. Am I correct in saying that the total of the purchase was a tad short of 350?

Ron, do you know what he paid per gun?

cirelaw 12-19-2015 01:01 PM

Clark published a good article on this subject~ http://testluger.com/?author=1 and http://testluger.com/?page_id=2

If I remembered right, US bought TE at $15 per new gun (?). Totally cost $15,000 for 1,000 guns. The later selling price to Bannerman should be in $10-$15 range. Just a guess though.

According to Fred Datig in 1962, "In 1906 the larger quantity of the pistols and holsters remaining in storage (in excess of 700) were placed at public auction, along with other surplus ordinance items. The New York firm of Bannerman purchased what may have been the entire lot of pistols and holsters and placed them for sale in 1906. The 1907 Bannerman catalog gives the price of the pistol as $19.85 and the holsters at $.95. According to the reports, Bannerman still had a few pistols on hand as late as 1918 and holsters until recently (1950) ~~Eric

Thanks all for all inputs. Both the Test Eagle and Built Navy are sold. Happy? Yes, Sad? Yes, Hope this little British sports car brings the same pride and joy as in owning the Test American Eagle.
Regards,
Bill

Best thing you did Bill. Selling to members here on the forum. Rather than some (we won't name!!) dealers that are blinded by profit. I believe in Karma; your good deed will be repaid somehow, at sometime when unexpected.:thumbup:

Are there any records of the amount of holsters he purchased and sold br Mr. Banerman?

Cirelaw,
Not sure what you might be referring to.

Happy New Year!!

Bill, what British sports car did you buy? I have owned an MGA, MGB and a Jaguar XK 150. Always a challenge to keep running. Bought the MGB new in 1964 and kept and ran it 18 years.

My brother had a beautiful yellow TR-6 for many years. He loved that car.
