Nice example of a 1940 Luger. IMHO I do not believe that these grips are original to this gun from the factory. They are either modern reproduction grips (most likely), or the black style grips issued with Lugers produced by Krieghoff (possible). The back side of original (left side) bakelite grips would have what I call positioning "islands" that are elongated with rounded ends. These grips have positioning islands that look nothing like that. Yet the details and surface smoothness look right. Curious.
