Originally, I was a little bit upset because no one called me (I registered phone bid, in case other people are on vacation and forgot it). Not sure why they did not call me, probably I missed the call while I was walking outside?? If it's $12K and I missed it, that would be very regretful. The calling history did not show any missing calls though.

When I arrived home, first thing was checking the result. Now, I feel much better.

Well, I didn't win the two handguns I bid on in the RIA auction, but today I did win two separate auctions on GB for the same two handguns [the same generically] for within $5 of the price I would have paid GB if my lowball bids had been accepted and I paid by CC [17 1/2%], so I am not unhappy.

I would not have been in such a rush but I found out a couple weeks ago that the owner of my LGS/FFL receiver is cutting back his hours and taking off more time for fishing, hunting, family. When I was on the way to the PO to mail one of the MO's today, I saw a realtor hammering in a big 'For Sale' sign in the front lawn. :(

There are only two gunshops left locally. If this one closes I will have a long drive to pick up GB purchased handguns. Or any guns for that matter. :crying:

I'm getting too old for this anyway. I'm going to start looking for a retirement community where you have your own little bungalow and there is a big community center where all the old fogies can go and play cards, watch TV, just sit & whine, etc. Where there's a nurse on site, an activities director, a cook, maybe some other straphangers. I'll live out my days watching the 456 reruns of the 20 year run of 'Law & Order' in peace.

C96 price is very hard to predict. The only C96 good buy in this RIAC session is that small ring carbine. Winner saved at least a couple of thousand dollars. The very expensive one is that 20-shot conehammer. Two extremes. Say, 20CH is still rare so it's hard to predict, normal. But common one could be hard to predict too -- back a few months ago, a short barrel reworked Red 9 sold $9000 from Julia (BP included will be over $10K). This type of rework is usually under $2000 regardless of condition, that particular one sold $9000 probably due to it has a Norwegian privatization release stamp... if it's not supposed being a discount point, how could it increase value...

Hi Ben, Correct! It's a very rare variation with less than 100 known to exist, almost all of them in France. This one is the first I've ever seen on this side of the Atlantic.

The five pointed star is the French occupation stamp. You also see them on some P.38s.

Really nothing much to do with the LWaA marking rejected guns with the five pointed star.

Or for that matter Krieghoff internal inspectors accepting them with the six-pointed star which they used for a while.

I noticed there were over 3400 in the luger section. I also noticed prices realized seemed low! Is this because the were so many choices. It seems the ones that were rare or pretty met their expected price range. A definite buyers market! To sell your pretty luger I would seek alternate avenues!! The prices realized is an eye opener! Eric, under French occupation, the star marking replaced the Eagle/N commercial proof marking. It is quite easy to understand that the French occupation forces saw no need for a nazi eagle on their pistols :)

I picked up this little beauty for a lot less: 1981 Mauser .38 special revolver :)

It depends on whatever meaning a company gave to a marking. These punches are relatively standard items and pretty common in every factory workshop, so they are available.

I remember that Mauser used a heart shaped punch to identify a certain batch of frames in the 1970s. In other words, they used what they had available for whatever purpose they needed :)
