Way too much work... :(
|
HTML Code:
Okay. I'll write the parts I'm looking for in German. |
Glen
It would help if we understood what your working on? I just read through the entire post and am still unsure what the purpose of this is? You should know that lugers went through some changes over the years and that even though close to each other the various manufactures used different techniques and different machining. There is a very real possibility that your going to get confused! It sounds like your considering building parts or maybe complete guns. If that is the case just say so and you will get lots of help as long as it's legitimate and in no way compromises this country or it's efforts over seas. The learning curve for this particular gun is very steep--- there is considerable information that needs to be absorbed. I will say that most of this research has already be completed, so the need for pictures in this detail has everyone wondering what your up to? You can go to this web site and see most of what you have asked for-- the pictures are copy righted but you can look all you want and get some idea why we seem resistant to your request. http://www.phoenixinvestmentarms.com/main.htm Good luck to you! The thing I'm working on cannot be said. It is not yet under any sort of copyright, at the moment it's all trade secret. The most i'm willing to say, it has to do with a construction of the Luger. There are many Luger machines out there, I do understand that. Some parts will be changed. I appreciate your concern, however I do not think it will affect me that much. I'll be using these photos only as references to help me understand what I'm looking at on the blueprints. "Oh, that's a hole." "Oh, the there is a curve here that is in the center of the piece, etc". I'll be putting the blueprints and photos together. If the photo is of another model, etc, I will be able to check it with the blueprint and understand that it is not what I'm looking for. What I'm doing is completely legitimate. It is completely legal, etc. I'm looking forward to when I can say what it is as well, but that is for the future. I know what you mean. I love German engineering, they know how to put things together. It takes more time to understand what they were thinking (their mechanical language in a sense). I don't need mechanical research. I need references to what I'm having trouble with. Honestly, there isn't many negative things I can do with the pictures first of all. And all these thousands of photos I'm hearing about, I'm not finding what I'm looking for. I've found stuff close, but no cigar. Furthermore, how are those photos any different from the ones I'm requesting? A slightly different angel won't mean the end of the world? Thank you very much for your time and your help Vern. I will check this website out and hope for the best. Glen |

From everything I am hearing, you need to buy a real luger and conduct measurements

You won't provide a name, by your own admission your screen name of "Glen Henson" isn't even your real name; Your email is suspect (according to a well-respected author and IT security specialist); you won't tell us what you're wanting to do with the information you request; The information you seek is clearly provided in the blueprints (which you claim to have) and in a gazillion photos here on the forum and elsewhere on the net and yet you're seem to most insistent that we are the only source of the information you seek; You claim you're "from the U.S.A. Merica!" yet your diction and command of the English language says otherwise...my guess is that while you have a good command of the English language it is not your native tongue/you're not a native speaker; "Engineer enthusiast"? I'm completely lost on this one but again by your owbn admission you can't read blueprints ("oh, that's a hole"); "PirateKing"? Again, sounds pretty suspect. In short, you come here making specious claims while being evasive and then want to toss snarky comments about. It's not my house, but if it was, I'd suggest you try again: leave and come back in with a whole new attitude, or just leave. My .02 |

Got a feeling this thread is going to end up locked.
|
As long as there is no ill-mannered behavior, I am inclined to leave it open for the time being... If Flaming and unacceptable language rear their ugly head, I can promise you that I Won't LOCK it.... I will NUKE it.
|
A very strange thread......
|
Perhaps if Mr. Pirate King were to offer a written contract offering a percentage of the business/profits, someone might step up and put in the time and effort?
|
I don't need measurements. These pictures are for reference.

You misread or I misunderstood. My email is not suspect.. My online name is different, which is completely different. The name is personal preference. Everyone has different preferences. Personally, everyone already knows where I'm located in the world, so the name is a step to far for me personally. You are more than welcome to post your name, I have no quarrel with that. I have given you an idea of what I'm going to be using with the photos. The project itself is trade secret, but the photos will be used only as references. I can use the other photos as references as well, but I need the right tool for the right job. You can't use a rock to hammer that well, it will work, but not so great. Claim to have? This is actually starting to get on my nerves. I'm having trouble seeing what you're gaining by putting in stuff like that besides calling me outright a liar. As I mentioned before. This is to save time, and I'd rather have a hammer to hammer nails than a rock. Right photos are better than ehh photos. The blueprints don't happen to have photos at different angels with the parts finished. They don't make great references. They are the plans. You are not the only help I seek. I am looking through the albums, and other sites that have been posted on this forum. Okay. Another, "I claim". Your guess is wrong. I am American, and this is my native tongue. It happens to be a little choppy because I haven't spoken it that much for about half a year now. As said by the credited IT, I am in Germany for the time being. Stated before, I'm having trouble reading the blueprints. I have done other engineering projects in the past, and enjoyed them. Luger is different from what I've done before. However, you're right. I can't be an engineer enthusiast "a person who likes engineering" if I'm not the best in the world at it. Concerning the comments. I like fighting fire with fire, might not be the most mature way of handling it, and that's why I try not to to begin. However, this post of yours has me rather upset. I do not like it very much when people question my personal choices, call me outright a liar, and say I can't even enjoy what I like because I'm not that good at it. |

You might consider that using photos for profit could be a copyright infringement.
sorry we are upsetting you - and I thought it would go down this path because gun collectors are naturally afraid of theives and being outed in public, just like you are. you were vague and still are so naturally folks think "Why should I help" when he's being so standoffish :) Just look at it from our point of view. And the only reason I outed you as being in europe was because we have had some trolls and I was not sure if you were who you say you were or using some IP hiding site. We have European members, but you'll notice none of them have jumped up and said, hey, come on over to my house and take as many pictures as you want. That should be telling in the privacy and security issues we are talking about right now. so, quit getting your back up, as we are reacting just like you, being a bit paranoid, just like you :) Have a chart that shows the parts you want some different angles on and then we know what you are looking for. OR, get some pictures and mark where you want more precise pictures. Give and take - its okay to be grumpy and snippy when you're getting jumped on. We are doing it to you and I apoligize, remember, we are a bunch of american collectors, and you are asking for precise things of OURS for an unknown use. You could be some anti gun guy whose going to use them in an Ad campaign of the evil uses of guns (lugers have a rep). See how we think :D |
Herr Pirate King..It has been suggested before on this thread that you simply buy a Luger. All of your problems would then be solved. You are in Germany and there are Luger's there.
Doubt and uncertainty creates suspicion and will be unlikey to get someone here to go to work...for a project no one knows about. But you. If a project is explained I have seen Member's here jump all over it and offer to help in any way possible. Since you cannot or will not tell what you are up to..trade secret? This is pretty simply not much of an incentive to make collectors work for free. Anyway that's my take on it. I wish you the best of luck in your secret endeavor. |
Here's a suggestion, based on my understanding that you simply need help in visualizing certain aspects of the pistol. Information and knowledge are bought and sold all the time, so what you seek can be purchased. Go to a local to you legal seller who has an example, and strike a deal. With such an approach, you need only convince a couple of people to cooperate with you, and you may be able to compensate them in some other way than cash up front.
If you're trying to understand more about the engineering aspects of the gun, I'll again plug G. Henrotin's e-book, suggested in a post above. Not to have acquired access to this publication by now would appear to conflict with your stated purpose. Even if it serves only to educate you to refer to parts in a coherent way, the $7.99 is more than a fair price. I've witnessed some very good suggestions for you in this thread, and we're all waiting to see what you will come up with next. |
Mechanic. :grr:
