My first car was a 1951 Ford Victoria, two door hard top, in Irvington, New Jersey in 1957. I spent a lot of time customizing the body and souping up the engine. Wish I still had it.
My first Luger is a 1920 commercial alpha serial number in 1963. The Luger was supposed to have come back with a veteran with Franzite stag grips, a P38 holster and extra mag. I didn't realize that the gun was reblued. I rust blued the Luger and still have it. |
1st Luger before I was old enough to drive. About 14.
BYF 41 matching, with zero finish, worn smooth wood grips and near smooth bore. I never saw such a worn pistol. We had a few in training group at Ft Bragg that got handled and fired by hundreds of guys that were nearly as bad, so I think it came from a similar situation. |
Luger came before the cars. That was a matching 1915/1920. Bought in Alaska at 20(1970) Never owned a car before, but in the years of 1973 to 1976 I owned a 1967 XKE roadster, 1957 Corvette, Austin Healy 3000, lastly a 1972 Corvette. All long gone, including the Luger. Far from mint, but all very drivable. Never had more than $5000 in any of them!! All found in Elizabeth City, NC.
40 years later, their values today are, XKE 80K, 57 Corvette 65k, A-H 3000 30k, and the 72 Corvette around 15K. As for that 1st Luger, paid and sold it for $150. If we all knew !! |
