John, Sorry to hear about your accident. On my right hand first I had a rattlesnake bite then severed two fingers, tendons and all. I had to have the tendon stretched, re attached. Still cannot completely straighten it out but one learns to adapt.
Time heals all wounds! Hang in there my Friend..Worst thing about all my problems was the expense! I don't want to tell you how many hundreds of thousands I have in my right hand!
Jerry

John,
Best wishes and prayers buddy. Cut my right index finger 3/4 of the way off on a table saw. They sewed it back on (didn't have the tendons stretched like Jerry) but sensation returned after a while and other than not being able to bend the last joint (still can operate a trigger!) it works well. Hope your recovery is even better.

Dear John,

Rest assured you have my prayers.
I wish you a quick and successful recovery.

Update...

Thank you my friends for your prayers and sentiments ...

One handed typing sucks...

Swelling and pain this morning in a plaster cast I can't remove when it itches :crying: :soapbox:
but the repairs seem to have gone well. Therapy starts Monday afternoon.

I will post progress as it happens... God bless you all abundantly !

...and 318is_Parabellum... "Mr. Sabato" was my late father.

My first name is John. :roflmao:
(but I do appreciate the sentiment)

+1 for a speedy recovery!

John,

These kinds of surgery take a long time before you see your final results. Also, the older that we get, the slower the healing process proceeds......you can almost watch a baby or young child heal. There is no substitute for youth. Just don't get discouraged. It is sort of up to you now, and I feel sure that you are motivated.

For those without a queasy stomach about such things, here are two photos after the visit to the urgent care facility to stitch it up... Post surgery photos will be posted when the cast comes off...

Although the overall hand looks factory original. The stiches are clearly a modern addition and I see some overall condition issues. Maybe $800 to a collector.

John Sabato 12-09-2013 09:30 AM

in the automobile world they would call the stitches "customized" Doug. :D

cirelaw 12-09-2013 09:30 AM

alanint 12-09-2013 09:42 AM

I usually manage to get a small burn when using the oven, but never a cut...How did you manage that???

I suppose we could outlaw spring loaded oven door hinges...But then only outlaws would have spring loaded oven door hinges... :D

BTW: Good luck with your left handed duties!!! :roflmao:

(Been there, done that!) :o
