What I mean is that if you are selling to someone (most folks nowadays) who communicates with a smart phone they don't understand why asking for another picture is a problem. Their phone is their computer and it is always attached at the hip. No need to "go outside", "upload images" or anything that seems troublesome to others.

I solved the issue of connecting Paypal to a bank account by having a special account just for them. That same account is capable of online transfer of funds to another account. Problem solved. As soon as I am paid, I have the money withdrawn to my EBAY/PAYPAL account. Then transfer the money to a different account. No more chance of withdrawals from the bank by Ebay or Paypal without my consent. They can't withdraw froma ZERO balance.

Edward Tinker 07-23-2013 01:49 PM

I too set up a separate account, that I transfer from paypal to my account and then transfer again. HOWEVER, On a person contesting, they minus my account which cost me money at the bank, which is wrong, but I limited my exposure.

I had a thief from down under (New Zealand?), and have sold overseas many times, yet this same person had played the game and ripped off folks. I fought the 'he did not receive', the lady at paypal could look at his feedback (might have been ebay, but essentially same thing), outloud she said, oh, he has a lot of positives with complaints. So, assumed I would get my money (it gets put on hold immediately). So, although he had a track record of saying he had not received he kept my money and I am sure the item. I was mad as hell, and called his local police and reported him. Of course I received one of my only negatives from ebay from him.

I have not said, no overseas sales yet, but I limit what I do sell.

As said above;
1. Ebay is a buyers market - ebay thinks they are the seller
2. Paypal is a forced issue, although you can get around it, I just deal with it - if they start taxing off of it, then I simply will quit using it
3. Ebay is my final choice, will try to sell here, or other boards, gunbroker but to be honest, even with fees, people on the boards are less likely to buy at the higher price you can get on ebay
4. World of difference if you have been a seller or only a buyer, as a seller you see too many difficult folks, so taking a simple picture is not as easy as it sounds.

Does anyone have any experience with eBid?

Edward Tinker 07-23-2013 02:02 PM

I have checked out numerous other sites, no one has the exposure that ebay had / has, although they have fallen out of disfavor of many sellers I believe....

My new smart phone takes better photo's than the excellent camera I have been using for years. Macro and all. The cameras in phones have come a long way.

I LOVE eBay for buying. HATE it for selling. Like Ed I offer on the Forums first..

As far as email communications..yes it's irritating but patience is a virtue, posses it if you can, sometimes in a Woman..NEVER in a man. I have learned patience..It comes when it comes or it doesn't. You give and expect common courtesy but the computer is easy to hide behind. One click and it disappears. Just the way of the World today. It ain't going to get any better either!

Zorba 07-23-2013 02:35 PM

That's fine - if the picture doesn't look like it came from a phone, then it doesn't matter!

You're right - "it ain't gonna get any better!"

Zorba, Yes, I was surprised myself. Pleasantly surprised. Tech trends are getting better day by day at a rapid pace.

I am just old and hard to adapt to new technologies I guess

I have had enough problems adjusting to my 2 netbooks, one laptop, 4 desk tops (one has to have the operating system re-installed), 2 color laser printers, 2 color ink jet all-in-ones, and (although I have not used them in ages) 2 ink jet printers. Also 1 Hot Spot which lets all of my computers (except the two which do not have wireless cards) access the internet if cable goes down or if I am on the road (with the portable ones).

Between the cable and the hot spot, I can't afford another internet connection.

No cranks on any of my phones. All the phones in my house are rotary phones. You should see the blank stares of the kids who do not know how to dial a telephone number.

Postino has a Hollywood Plus hardware DVD decoder card + a Hauppauge WinTV video card and plays the DVDs on his computer and watches the movie on his Toshiba TV set... :)

...OR...Captures the TV movie on his computer and converts it to digital and compresses it so it will fit on a DVD disk... :D

Off topic, I know...sorry, but...

All the "kids" with their tweets think they invented abbreviations, like "lol" etc. Hell that was done already 70 and 80 years ago working the 40 meter band with a key or a bug. As in...

CQ...CQ... = Seek You, Seek You

Gawd, I'm old...

Gunny John (AKA, "Sparks" K9SVD)

PS. Anybody need a QSL for their shack wall?
PPS. CQ-CQ...anybody out there? (same as Ham radio) It IS Ham radio, before VOX. Used to be that a novice could only use code on the 40 meter band until he/she passed their advance test. Then they could drop the "N" from their call sign; i.e., KN9SVD became K9SVD.
