Well, what can I say. Simply beautiful. Congratulations on a great find.

Your particular sub-variation of the 1939 42, is the SE63L SE63L, which means it has the stick eagle inspection stamps with the inspector number (63) in a large type face. These were made in the middle of the production run and represent the markings on about 1/3rd of the code 42 production in 1939.

I note that you said it came with 4 magazines. Two, hopefully match the gun and should not be separated from it.

However, if you are so inclined, it might be nice to publish the numbers of the remaining two magazines on the board and make them available for trade. There might be owners of the guns with which these magazines are associated eager to re-unite them with the gun.

The holster

Sublime!

Frank,

I would also avoid using the holster's buckle. When a holster is truly this crisp, any bending of the closure strap detracts from the overall quality of the piece.

I truely did not know how crisp, and minty this bad boy was...this was my first Luger. I stored it away in a safe. But after over 10 years of looking around, it just came to me one day...that it was unusually nice. I didnt know that 2 matching serial mags and matching rig made it better. All I can say is this...it looks like it came out the friggin factory, and the leather hoster was just cut from a fresh skin. I am not trying to brag, I am just pround that my first Luger is of a higher standard. The fact that the vet didnt mess it up...durring storage and so forth. There must be more minty Lugers and so forth...just yesterday another guy showed his similar Luger but is missing matching mags...his shows a little wear...but could tell too well the pics were not close up.

Enjoy it and never part with it! You will never ever find another as nice.

Looks like she's been kept in the vacuum chamber all these years. Fascinating indeed.

MAUSER88 11-17-2016 06:33 PM

Outstanding!!!!!

Sonofeugene 11-18-2016 03:36 AM

Be so, so careful removing and installing the left grip. You don't want the infamous chip by the safety. And always make sure you use a screwdriver that fits the slot in the screw properly so the screw heads don't get buggered up. That's one beautiful Luger!

Sonofeugene 11-18-2016 03:37 AM

Oh, and I'll give you an even 400 for it.

Caferacer 11-18-2016 11:33 AM

I hope it still looks as good today
as it did way back when this thread is from :-)

handsome gun and good photos, even if they are small.
The color comes through and it looks brand new.

Did it have a tool, as well ?

You people noticed that this was a 3 year old thread, right?

Looks almost new, an oustanding rig - makes a ordinary 42 to be something special!
Here is mine, two years older than yours:)

Yes I also realize this is a old post but glad to have seen it today. I don't get to this site to often now days as my buying has slowed down considerable. She is truly a beautiful Luger and nicer than my 1939. Thanks for sharing it with us.
