Brandon,

Your grips alone are worth about $300.

It's like a small lottery winning. This excellent Mauser Parabellum was sold lower than a rusty 1965 Chinese made tokarev on gunbroker.com a week ago (sold by armsblue.com, I lost the link).

Brandon, Thanks for the pics..The Krieghoff grips look authentic to me with the threaded screw holes..I am sure someone will come along and authenticate them if that's possible with these photo's.

The .45 is a Union Switch & Signal Brandon was telling me about.

Kohaku2416 03-17-2012 06:59 PM

Thanks Jerry! :D Yeah I would love to hear if the grips are authentic or not. I mean they look too new for me given the condition they are in. Whoever owned this gun took really good care of it... and yeah I am still jealous about that US&S! :D

Brandon, what a lovely find! Nice work and for a good price, too. I think you have many of us envious! :) Well, I'm envious (at the very least).

Kohaku2416 03-17-2012 07:27 PM

Thank you I don't wanna sound like I am bragging but I feel pretty good about myself being this is my second attempt at buying a Luger.. my first involved a 1920 commercial 30. Luger that I got for around $600ish for just the gun and one mag labeled Germany. This was my first Luger which I sold shortly after getting it because I couldn't find any ammo for it...now I got a Luger I got ammo for but I don't wanna shoot because of the value! >_<

My first Luger.. a 1920 DWM commercial in 7.65mm Luger.

Just wanted to know if anyone else could chime in if the grips are original to this particular Luger it would be much appreciated it! :D

padredan 03-18-2012 04:08 PM

are they numbred?, as far as shooting it, go for it ,just use the right ammo, we all pretty much agree on ww white box or american eagle, both of my lugers are just as rare and all original and i shoot them. enjoy your find.

lugerholsterrepair 03-18-2012 04:23 PM

Brandon, Untill further notice I wouldn't worry that your grips are fake. They show all the charecteristics of good Krieghoff grips and none of being fake so far...

I have to disagree with the good Padre..He is welcome to spend his money any way he wants but shooting an all matching pistol like yours is inviting disaster. One broken numbered extractor or holdopen and the value is diminished considerably. Find yourself a shooter if it's something you want to run a lot of rounds through. Then you can feel comfortable if an extractor breaks that it is no problem to simply replace it.
All matching Lugers are not something to abuse in my opinion.
Jerry

Kohaku2416 03-18-2012 05:27 PM

Yeah I agree with you, I don't plan to shoot it now after hearing about the numbers being all matching.. last night before I went to bed I went ahead and re oiled the gun and greased up all the rails. From now on it's gonna just stay in the safe and occasionally be brought out to show as a conversation piece. I was looking at possibly looking for one of the R guns Russian Capture Lugers I saw for around 699 as a shooter.. But I am still debating.

From what I could tell no they aren't numbered when I removed them last night to clean the frame.. the only thing on the grips are the screw holes in the center as shown in the pics.

alanint 03-18-2012 05:39 PM

Bakelite Grips were never numbered.

Kohaku2416 03-18-2012 05:57 PM

Yeah that's what I thought.. I been reading up on Lugers on Phoenix investments for like two days in a row now...lol

lugerholsterrepair 03-18-2012 06:03 PM

Brandon, Keep reading! Plenty of info out there..

Ron Wood 03-18-2012 07:08 PM

Brandon,
From what I can see, the value of the grips is a substantial portion of what you paid for the gun. Just the icing on the cake. Good for you (and thank you for not shooting it :))

padredan 03-18-2012 09:04 PM

Brandon, listen to the experts on here, not an old fool like me, they know what they are doing, you can learn a ton from them. Besides i use to jump out of prefectly good airplanes or sometimes was helped out. Great looking luger, again congrats

PIA's marketing is very strong.

One of their guns listed on GB got very good offer, if owner had listed it him/herself, it's sold. But owner probably won't have this type of offer.
