this maybe a bit of a "Re Dux" on this pistol but thor wanted to perhaps discuss it a bit more, i had asked him if it was a good idea to return it to artillary, and get his opinion on it.

My two-cent's worth.... I would leave it as-is. The pistol has a correct history with continuity. You can read it on the piece itself. The barrel has been replaced legitimately and carries the evidence of same. If you return the pistol to "Artillery" configuration, you are making it something that it is not, because you will never find a LP.08 (official designation for "Artillery" models) barrel numbered to match the pistol. If you do, go buy a lottery ticket immediately - a big one.
As it is, this pistol tells an honest and honorable story. Don't change history.

It was just an idea, nothing more. Like some ideas ,you have good and bad ones. that's why you seek wise counsel before going forward with some of your idea's . This is what i have done. It will remain as it is, thanks to all for your help.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/WWI-German-P...item19ce233d48 check out this item on ebay, i find the bore on it to look to be fair at the most. Not sure what a striped artillary barrel goes for, but this seems pricey.
